My sleeper tractor is going in for repair for a few days and perhaps up to a week. The company wants me to use another driver's (who is off) sleeper. They won't pay to have someone clean/disinfect it, so I'd have to do it if it is to be done. Also I'd have to transfer over all my "necessary" stuff for living and working on the road for a week...and sleep in someone else's bed for the week. Is this the "normal" way a company handles slip seating for sleepers? Or what do the better companies do for company drivers who have to use other trucks?

I have refused to do this with many companies.
offered to drive it local, but not sleep in somebodies bed. I'm also sure the guy assigned that truck will have fit when he finds out someone has been farting and drooling in his bed.
unless you switch mattresses which is a royal paintommymonza Thanks this. -
Tell them to call, you when your truck is finished .
I spent 8 hours vacuuming every nook and cranny and and wiping my truck and fridge before i moved a new mattress into my newly issued truck.
I had my work tell me one time they were going to use my truck while i was off for a week .
Told them,I quit if they do.
I used to strip my bedding and flip my mattress up and put a seat cover over my drivers seat to keep the Funk off that the shop hands drag in from the, previous truck they sat in .
Ive seen other drivers filthy piss and fart stained seats and dog house condition s
Yea I have a Problem. -
You guys would never have made it in the old days. I can remember times switching trucks for a few days while mine was in the shop and I was assigned a drivers truck who was on home time for 3-4 days with all his bedding in it !. I once switched trucks 3 times in one day ! And don't forget teams sharing the lower bunk. I always used a sleeping bag for my bedding and quite often laid down and old sheet on the mattress. In this year (2020) we have to be super careful. I don't think restrooms get cleaned all that well after usage. Or the fuel pumps (handles).
650cat425 and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -

I think this falls under the “suck it up buttercup” saying.
the company only has so many trucks, the trucks have to make money and earn their keep (as do the drivers!).
you work for a company, you drive what they tell you to drive. The only other option is parting ways and finding a new company.
When life gives you lemons, it’s up to you what to do with them.650cat425 and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
I have the option of refusing such instances citing health and safety concerns. There is a form posted at terminal. Your countries health and safety laws may vary
Otherwise clean the unit and go to work. We all have optionsSoulScream84, Numb, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I once found 3 hidden piss bottles this way
tommymonza and 650cat425 Thank this. -
Worst thing ever was having to take one on a 2 day trip to haul live turkeys, that had been used for shagging, and those guys got filthy tarping gut wagons. I'd like to kick the idiot who thought I should drive it without thoroughly cleaning it out.
Velour interiors(think glitter ball/snowglobe) are also impossible, due to the never ending rain of dust. -
I remember those days. My first job would let drivers use my truck when I was home on a reset. When I came back the last time and it was filled with trash and piss bottles, I quit and told them to clean it themselves. Helped me decide and speed up the process of becoming an O/O as fast as possible.
tommymonza, Speed_Drums and 650cat425 Thank this.
