Trying to see how much it will cost me to get sliding 5th wheel installed on my kw truck. Currently have one mounted with bolts to the frame.
Would I be able to use it with slider or would have to get whole brand new 5th wheel?

Why spend the money?

The weight on the tractor allways remains the same.
Once you have the sweet spot at which point the weight is divided correctly between the steeraxle and the drives there is very little point to spending the money for it to slide.Hogi99, rollin coal, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this. -
Boy I sure get a kick out of the drivers here that think every one runs box van trailers. HAHAHAHA
I have a 60" fifthwheel slide track and I use every inch of it. We have trailers with 14, 18, even up to 36" deep kingpin settings. And they all have different spacing between the kingpin and frame rail drops too and Im sure the OP is running into this issue as well. Other wise he wouldnt be asking.Stray_Dog, Caterpillar Cowboy, poppapump1332 and 7 others Thank this. -
I normally pull a long box. Last night I hooked to a set of doubles. Not having a sliding fifth wheel would have complicated that task greatly. Limited use maybe if you only pull one type of trailer, but in a gig that demands versatility a sliding fifth wheel is an asset and decidedly not a waste.

Visit a salvage yard and buy a slider off of another truck. You should be able to use the same 5th wheel assembly. Watch out, there are lowered slides, and regular ones, and a couple different brands also.
