Single trip Insurance....

I am with Great West and i had 3-4 time increased limit for particular trips

 

I had a really good insurance guy, I'd known him a long time. He said if I just once and a while hauled a high value load just call him and let him know. He would write a note. If something happened he would write the policy. Probably not many will do that

 

How much did it cost to do that on a trip bases under them?

When I need coverage over the $500k I carry, I use these people.

I have not used them in a few years but they were good and relatively inexpensive- maybe $300 for an extra $250k

if you are doing this regularly, I would suggest a cargo policy bump. $500k is the absolute minimum I would carry. Difficult and expensive to get $750k or $1M - f keen and their $1M requirement for machines over 70k. Just another way to lower the rate - they will “sell” you the one time cargo bump. They are the only broker with this policy so have run across and they don’t pay enough to make it worth doing.

 

I have used this company twice (Freightinsurancefast.com). Fast, and reasonably priced. I believe they quote what the cost will be instantly so it can be added when bidding a haul.

 

yes machines over 70k lbs - (could be 80k - can’t exactly remember the cut off)

Pretty sure you can write cargo with a different insurance carrier than liability. I used to carry $5M in excess liability as an add on to my policy when I was running wind and it was written by a different carrier than my base policy.
