In another thread the person was talking about getting woken up at all times of the night by lot lizards... I was going to post this question there, but didn't want to hi jack the thread - so posting it here:

Is there any 'signals' you can put on your truck to indicate you're not interested? I seem to remember (way back when) that one of the signals/signs that you were an O/O is a blue light for your steps. Just curious if there are still those little signals for different things - such as 'here be O/O', 'Not interested in LL' that type of thing...

    TIA

When I first started trucking I was a bit more "GTFO mofo, I'm not a bank etc.." type of person, but I had some plain paper and used a marker to write signs and I would place them on my driver side window often. Use to write some really smart ### remarks for the solicitors to read, "NO" worked the best, pretty simple. Only really used them when I hit the trashy areas like OKC, Amarillo, W, Memphis, Most of the NE etc. where knocking happens the most. Those places I listed aren't nearly as bad as they used to be, use to have to wait to backup in spots in OKC x142 TA cause of all the lizards 20+ at any time walking by you making sure you see them, and standing in back of your trailer while you backed up surely got you to look at them lol.

Now I don't do much at all but close my curtains, had one knock in the last year at 3am recently that was it. Not even like it used to be imo

So is there no other little signs or signals of other things - like if you are an O/O? I know kinda high school - but I'm just curious :)

    well, a coupl'a three ways.....

    1) hang a bra over the steering wheel....indicates a wife, or well you know...

    2) get some "waded up" tissue paper (kleenix) *slightly wetted*, and toss it out directly at the ground by the drivers door, indicating "service has been done, and cleaned up"......

    3) the no lot lizard sign might work.....

    4) fake blood on the door, steps, ground......and a newspaper article in the window about truck stop prostitute killings.......

So I guess the blue light on the drivers step doesn't mean an O/O any more? Back 20+ years ago, Klingon was really proud to put that light on :D Oh well...
