i was hoping to get other thoughts on different side dump mfg.
i own an old 98 circle r 40ft tandom axle that is thrashed and i really like it. three of the corners are cracked out so bad you wouldn't believe it but no matter how many times i weld it up it cracks to the same spot and stops. so i stopped trying.
i also own a 04 smithco 43ft tri axle that i bought to get across the scales easier. don't mind it but wouldn't buy one new if i were going to spend that kind of money.
just wondering if anyone else had an opinion on their take on any mfg.
side dump mfg. of choice

if i were going to buy a new trailer it would be a jet super 45 but have
never spoken to an owner of one, they seem to have some nice features. -
Pulled a sidumper 325 tri axle no problems with tub grossed over 110tho once with rocks size of small car not a dent in tub at all felt real stable when dumping wuld def get one looked at the jets new quad axle got a freind bought one no complaints from him yet but hes using it mostly for ag stuff. dont care for smithco tubs are weak seen some that looked like canoes just 2cents
aktundratugger Thanks this. -
getting ready for a tonnage haul, putting a lift axle on the circle r, should be good for 38 tons w/w900l, only way to make it pay.

Last spring I went down to the Con Ag expo in Vegas and side dumps were probably top 3 of the things I spent time focusing on (industry related). The two that I would most likely be willing to get into would be a Circle R or a Ranco, in that order. Circle R's rep showed us a few things he thought made his trailers a better deal and the two main points that came out to me were they've got an extra support pin in the center of the trailer, and the actual tub sits lower. Ranco didn't have this stuff, but one of the head honcho's from the company was there and said that if there was something ya liked, he could probably do it or something close to it, and I really like the outfit who carries Ranco up here, so I'd probably order one semi-custom from them when/if the time comes.

i know a guy who bought a new circle r and it is nice, but i've watched it dump and it really has a lot of flex, i mean it seams like a lot! don't like how they lay down on the drivers. have a friend that just had a jet tri-axle delivered and i'm excited to check it out. i've watched all the video's and think that's the way i would go, order built to my spec. if i were to pay that much money i'd get what i wanted, not one off the line. do like the flex corners in the cir. r. and when he bought his it had a crack warranty for like 2 years, kinda comforting.

SmithCo I like.
Wave to you also fellow Alaskan -
dreams of a money making tonnage haul down the drain.
a lot of work for minimal return, added axle but state bridge formula won't give me credit for a seprate axle group,so all that work for one ton, bummer! it is a shame that the laws are written with so much confusion and contradiction, says one thing openly and in plain sight and understanding, and then in some obscure corner of the regs.says sompthing that is completely opposite.
that's our gov't working to keep their job with paper and not work.Last edited: Apr 9, 2012
