Its not a STAA route ... but since you have a 48 footer you are legal

Nice scenery, don't expect to make good time. After globe there is a 13'6 clearance for the southbound lane thru the queen creek tunnel.

Where are you starting out and what is your destination?

Back in my Outlaw trucker days I used to run a 53-foot reefer through there when I was trying to sneak around without being detected. It's not for the faint of heart. It's going to take a lot of extra time but it does shorten the miles..
Make sure you take some pictures for the Memories.

Watch out for the elk. I've seen a few roaming around over by Show Low.

Been thru there in my car all the time when i lived up in pinetop, hell of a ride thru the canyon , the best is when ur going east bound look for the runaway ramp its litterally about 50ft long and the end is nothing but a rock wall , LOL made me laugh the first time i see it , watch ur trailer swing on some of them switch backs

I am coming from Minneapolis going to Claypool, AZ. The load is little tricky, sticking out 3 feet at the back and 2 in the front.
Thanks for the nice answers. This video helps a lot. I still have 1200 miles to make a decision.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Thats definatly the shortest route there, the other way if ur coming off i40 take 191 south thru morenci then 70 west.. Going to add alot more miles and its a real windy road as well , the only other way is to take the 260 thru payson to 87south then pick up the 60 east bound but you not only have the mountains of payson and showlow to go thru but then u add more between mesa and globe, the shortest way is the 60 , the canyon only lasts for about 10 miles maybe not even that, before the canyon and after is fairly easy driving. Just be careful on some of them blind turns and keep er nice and slow thru the switchbacks, isee trucks there all the time that pull copper out of the mines in globe , u should be fine
