Unplugged airlines from the knob and noticed a few drops of oil.

Am I in a bad spot?

    compressor, air module, or transmission.

we shall see. I’m going to get the compressor replaced as I’ve had a feeling it’s operating at a different tone a bit but mechanic keeps saying it’s good.

I’ll flush the lines and go from there.

    Thanks.

I’m totally not a mechanic, so bear with me (this has been a learning experience for me lol)...

what happened with mine was, the piston inside the splitter assembly had a worn o-ring, allowing transmission oil into the air lines. I know the air compressor seems a likely culprit, but for me at least, the compressor had nothing to do with it.

If the oil is black, drain your air tanks and see if there's oil there too. If its engine oil coming out the shifter, it is very likely it'll be coming out of multiple valves on the truck as well.

If its lighter in colour than engine oil I'd lean more towards the range cylinder leaking a bit.

I’ve drained the tanks and nothing comes out. The drops of the oil looked black.

I do have a leak on the bottom of the engine and looks like it’s from the compressor, so this seams as if it’s confirmed.

Now I’m trying to figure out if I should do the fuel pump as well since that side of the engine is going to be torn down.

An external oil leak on the compressor doesn't translate to it bypassing internally.

It’s the tone of its operation that has me thinking. It changed a little while ago but by not much. That’s why the mechanic says all is fine, yet I have my doubts. I guess when you know every sound and familiar with things you tend to notice these things.
