we have opened a diesel shop and wondering how to set up pricing. what is a normal charge to send mechanic to customers site to do work? also what would you consider a fair rate? I've seen so many shops charge crazy rates and I want to be fair to our customers. We do alot of weekend and night work, how much is a normal/fair rate for those hours/days? our local shops charge 100 hour for trucks brought to them mon - friday 7am-5pm. What about rate for hooking up diagnostic computer? I have alot of other questions but we will see how this gets answered first. Thank you for your time.

Local car mechanic charges $100/ hour. I'd have to think a diesel mechanic gets twice that.

Local dealerships in SW MO are about $125, my independent with 10 bays and 3 employees is $100/hour.
I know larger cities are well over $150D.Tibbitt, ettaterrell and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
If I went on my own, working out of a truck, it'd be $140/hr. Everything charged by the hour.
