Any one who is looking into trucking school stay away from shipper's choice, i'm currently attending shipper's choice trucking school in hampton,va this was a bad choice, i don't know how the truck pass inspection i they buy the inspection sticker tires are bald, holes in the muffler, clutch mess up, truck leaking oil etc.. That school earn $80,000 plus monthly, but don't have a half way descent truck, class ends 10/22/2010 and only have 20mins of drive time they told us trucks are new company will come in and offer us jobs lies lies , this school is a joke for trucking school

Is S.C. school in Richmond closed yet ? That was one of the bigger schools in the area. I use to work for Air Gas down the road from them, when they were on Bellwood Rd. They did have a bunch of "JUNK" sitting out there. But that was a good little snake curve (at the light) to learn on.

WOW, I was just talking to a coworker about shipper's choice about how they do people dirty. I was considering them when I was looking for a school but im glad I live closer to CDS CDL Training School in Fredericksburg VA. I was in and out of that school in no time with no issues. Im definately not contacting Shippers Choice for my next road test.

Why would you have to do another road test if you were successfully in and out of School (CDS) in Fredricksburg?? You sound like a CDS employee trying to get them more business. I am a Shippers Choice Graduate and I got what I paid for, My CDL, and a JOB with a major carrier. The trucks are for training students, not OTR line haul. CDS has the same "garbage" I visited them and saw two of the same make, model and color trucks as those of Shippers. I went to John Tyler Community College also to see old broken down training vehicles. I don't blame any school as the students are very hard on clutches, transmissions and are learning. If I was going to train a group of future truckers, many of which don't even know what a clutch is, I seriously doubt I would put them behind the wheel of a $120,000 New Peterbuilt and have it abused. IF you went to truck school you know how hard the students are on the vehicles. Would you put a group of unlicensed unskilled novice drivers in your New Truck and have them to curve backs and docking?. I when on the road with students who were learning how to shift, scared the hell out of me and the students were grinding and destroying the truck. We all practiced and got better. We learned by practicing and making our mistakes at the trucks expense. I learned a lot at Shippers and the school got me my job. I agree that the trucks are not the best, but lets look at what they have to endure. I was with a student who did not release his trailer brakes and draged it locked up right after the instructor told him how to release them. Good luck to you as I hope you do not have to take another mysterious "next road test" at CDS

So you only got 10 minutes of drive time? in four weeks? hard to believe and I don't cause I went to shippers also. Why do people justify their failures at everyone else's expense. Not to be disrespecting but I got my training and the truck you are talking about was not used on the road but to teach us how to do the curve back, straight back and you saw how the students popped the clutch, spun the tires, oversteared and the instructor kept trying to help them learn which way to turn the wheel. Agreed that the truck was not the best, but I can see where even a new truck would not last very long under those circumstances. I hope you got your license, I got mine. It was worth the money. I am working at Werner and doing ok. They like Shippers students. The school got me the job. They are reinbursing me the tuition I paid. Remember me, I am Brian, I bought you a bottle of water, if you are who I think you are. If you see DON tell him I said hey!! I hope you are working. If not, contact me with your CDL license, physical, and your Certificate of Completion from Shippers, I will hook you up with the right people at work. Don has my info have him call me for the OK to release my cell number to you. I do not want to post it.

# Brian i don't know you, like i said 10minutes of drive time that is all we had out of 15 students only 4 students was getting drive time, the drive log and the other students are prof of what im talking about , if you went to the same shipper's choice you know they are always student roll over into the other class some fail the road test others waiting to take the test so they hog the 1 road truck, Brian was the instructor he always say im getting these students ready for testing and its only 1 truck

@Brian Richardson, maybe I should have said CLASS B license because I am contemplating on getting a CLASS A license and now I live closer to Shipper's Choice. NO I do not work at CDS and im not trying to advertise that school but if people continue to complain about shipper's choice as if its the only school within the Richmond area, I provided another choice they can weigh in on. If anything, sounds like you run shipper's choice since you are the only person defending the school.
