I have always used Delvac 1300. But after I overhauled this engine 6NZ I switched to Rotella full synthetic. Every thing was good for 150,000 miles. all of the sudden my copper went from single digit to over 500.this continued for three samples. Then I switched back to Delvac 1300 and the next sample went back to single digit again.
In all fairness the copper was more than likely leaching from the oil cooler and had nothing to do with the oil. This is common with a cat. But I would have thought the leaching would have happened before 150,000 miles. Anyway I now have another 150,000 miles on it and all is good. -
I switched to it at around a million miles and my oil psi dropped 5 lbs. I went back to regular rotella15w40 but my oil pressure never recovered. Might have been coincidence who knows? Motor was inframed at 1.1 million and oil pressure back up to normal 65-70 psi. 15w40 works for me. Just put the last of about thirty 5 gallon buckets of Rotella15w40 in it a couple of weeks ago. Next up Napa 15w40 from 5 gallon buckets. It was cheap $50 a bucket and from what i read on the internet a good oil. Exact same oil as Valvoline in fact just rebranded.

I use rotella 15w 40 cause I get it at $9.00 a gal, tax, oil fee included. but I had good luck with delvac & delo oil. just cannot get them as cheap as rotella & since I cange oil at 10,000 miles. I could probably get by on super tech oil.

My Paccar engine does not like Rotella oil of any kind it drinks it. I went back to Delvac and it does not use any oil between 40,000 mi oil changes. with the rotella synthetic it would use 4 gallons in that time
heavyhaulerss Thanks this. -
I use Shell Rotela T6 synthetic only , I have 1,360,000 miles original Volvo D13 /780/2008 ; original motor except cam; I still get 8-9 mpg and doesn't burn oil, I don't add any oil in between 25-30k miles oil change interval,no oil.additives .I buy oil by gallon from wall mart,Meijer ; because I get better price and i don't trust the bulk synthetic oil and tthe technicians from lube shops. Yes is thinner , but is recommended for Volvo motors, in Europe they use 0w40 oils already in heavy trucks.
Truckin Juggalo and heavyhaulerss Thank this. -
I've used nothing but t-6 for years in two different cats..... I like it and have had no oil related problems.
I use it mainly for cold weather starts. And the extra hot temp protection is just a bonus....
$21 a gallon at Wally World .Truckin Juggalo Thanks this. -

You will like the spinner, I had one on my last truck
Truckin Juggalo Thanks this. -
the paccar has a spinner filter from factory does a nice job oil samples at 40K intervals come back very clean. and the oil is just turning black at that time very clean engine. now has over 400K on it. just did overhead last week on it at home and engine was really clean inside. love the delvac oil.
blade Thanks this.
