Hi All. I read somewhere in here about a way to dim the screen on a laptop so you dont get all the brite glare at night. I tried a search but couldnt find it .. This would be really helpful using mapping software..I do realize that we shouldnt use the laptop and drive at the same time but sometimes you have to use the map.. Thanx

Then find a place to park and use it.

    I was wondering this myself.

My PDA that i used with GPS used a program called mapopolis, I think there is a PC version of this. Mapopolis has a setting for night time, which greatly reduced the light omitted by the PDA. I would assume that the PC version would be the same.

Right now I am driving in WI in the snow posting as I drive. I love using the laptop while driving, it makes time go past much faster. It is a little hard to type, but if I position my body just right I can steer with my left knee and type with both hands. The Volvo handles quite well, and requires little correction to go down the road, I just have to glance at the road once in a while. I will probably get flamed for this, but some people can multi-task, and hell, I slow to 60 when I am using the computer, making it less likely I will come apon a slow moving car, in between glances at the road.

Some people can multi-task some people have small useless brains.

OK here is the ONLY WARNING that will be given.

I re-opened this thread for GOOD discussion.

But if it's going to be used to EGG on arguments, or for any other reason it can be permanetly closed.

    Sorry....I could not resist.

It was and is a valid question. There has to be a setting or program for laptops to invert color scheme to black.

My IBM has a multi setting for bright/dim. I use it full on during the day and full dim at night. If I'm using my maping software. If I'm just cruising or know my route I leave the laptop off at night.

Just for argument sake how more distracting is the laptop screen as compared to the camera screen for the USXpress fender camera?

If, in fact, he is doing this, then it will only be a matter of time before something happens. Luck always runs out eventually.
