Dear Melton Truck Lines Drivers Or Future Employees,
I trust this message finds you in good health. I'm reaching out to bring to your attention a matter of great concern that has recently come to my notice. I am an employee at Melton Truck Lines, opting to remain anonymous as I share information that I believe requires immediate attention from our community of drivers.
I have learned that our company, Melton Truck Lines, employs driver-facing cameras under the pretext of "insurance purposes." While the company claims that these cameras only activate in case of an accident, I have reason to doubt the accuracy of this assertion. Working in the office, I overheard a troubling conversation between a dispatcher and their direct manager. They were discussing the appearance of certain drivers, making explicit remarks about their physical appearance, and even engaging in inappropriate comparisons.
This revelation raises serious ethical and legal concerns, indicating a breach of privacy and potential misuse of technology supposedly implemented for legitimate purposes. As a collective of drivers, it is crucial for us to address this matter together to safeguard our rights and privacy.
I am contemplating legal action against Melton Truck Lines for what seems to be a severe violation of privacy and the establishment of a hostile work environment. However, before proceeding, I'm reaching out to fellow drivers to gauge the extent of awareness within our community. If you've experienced or witnessed similar instances or share these concerns, I urge you to come forward and express support for a potential collective action.
Your privacy and professional dignity are paramount, and it's essential that we unite to address any unethical practices within our organization. I assure you that all responses will be kept confidential, and no personal details will be disclosed without explicit consent.
Please respond to this message if you are willing to discuss this matter further or if you have relevant information to share. Our collective action will be pivotal in rectifying this situation and ensuring a workplace environment that respects the rights and dignity of all employees.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your support.
Sincerely,
[Your Anonymous Name]

Appreciate the enthusiasm, but at the end of the day it’s their truck and their rules and you’re playing in their sandbox. If you don’t like it then you have to go find another sandbox to play in.

You need proof of it happening.
what you stated does not amount to proofAtwt, Flat Earth Trucker, aussiejosh and 5 others Thank this. -
Yeah, they're liars and they all do it. It's common knowledge amongst drivers. It's also their equipment so they have the right.
My problem is how they lie about when the tearless retina is recording and when it isn't.
My second problem is how incredibly invasive it is. That's not an office cubical. It's a driver's bedroom, living space and sometimes even a bathroom.
I could never agree to it. Ever.Atwt, Flat Earth Trucker, aussiejosh and 6 others Thank this. -
There was a case, not too long ago regarding a newer driver. He passed his probationary period giving him permission to bring a passenger along. He chose to bring his girlfriend. Being a young couple, they engage in what young couples typically do. Some of the office staff took a liking to watching these to engage in their activity during their private time. And gossip ensued around the office. Some of the office staff were literally kicking back eating snacks while watching these to engage in a private activity. Somehow it got back to them. They lawyered up. The new couple became multimillionaires.
I understand it’s their equipment, their rules, and I totally respect that. But if you tell me that when I’m off duty, it’s private and the only time you’re gonna watch me on a driver facing cameras if there’s an incident? That’s how it better go down.Atwt, Flat Earth Trucker, aussiejosh and 14 others Thank this. -
