I believe they are atleast A+ with AM Best. I got a qoute from them from my agent and I had instructed him to only go with A+ or A++. While the rate was a bit higher, on advice of my agent we did not look at them because his experience was they are a bit slow on the claims side for the insured. But no issues with paying cargo claims.
Also, they have been talking about adding a clause that would allow them to disallow a driver in the middle of the term if CSA score went up on them. It was not part of the contract yet but didn't want to deal with this next year if they added it.RTS, bullhaulerswife and Hanadarko Thank this. -
I have Sentry for my bobtail, unladen and physical damage.
My son also has Sentry (full coverage) but is kinda leary about their reputation. His buddy had to get a lawyer to coax them to pay the full amount of his claim after an accident.... a difference of about $22,000.
When I got wrecked by a drunk illegal in '09 I had Great West... an excellent company. They flew an adjuster to my place a week after the wreck and I had a check in hand one day later... that's service.
I may look at Great West again when my policy expires or a I re-activate my authority in the spring. -
+1 for Great West. That is who I am with. No claims so can't comment on that but the coverage in the policy is outstanding.

but now seem to be more of a commercial company only interested in obtaining premiums.
I would really like to hear from a member on here that had a very well managed claim in 2011.
However, with that said...
I am with GW right now. Great coverage and their CHOICE plan is getting beefed up for additional $ very soon. $50 more a year I think for 2x the "extras" coverage limits. Not bad. I would still like to see better coverage for flatbed
equipment - but for now, something is better than nothing.
Problem is knowledge of a GW claim right now with a member on this board. GW is really treating their claim very poorly. The issue I have is that this is really "open and closed" and there is security video showing exactly what happened and no one at GW is interested (nor the outside 3rd party adjuster) in viewing this footage.
The footage clearly shows the other party was at fault. Not my friend..
I also HATE 3rd party adjusters....
The member on here may post about this at some point..but until then, I can't say anything additional.
Hell, any dam company can send me a bill - but toss a claim at them and see how they do.
That's how you REALLY see whose on YOUR SIDE.
..this current issue with GW just has me reviewing things. Either way, that's never a bad idea.bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
I had GW for several years, but really got tired of their propensity to settle with the other parties at the drop of a hat. It would take too long to give every detail, but we had 2 incidents where it was 50/50 whether we were at fault or the other party, but both times they quickly settled. Than when it's renewal time............. well you had these incidents bla bla presto rate increase. Final 2 kickers was a 4 wheeler ran the lite and T boned my truck at the LF drive wheel. They couldn't find any wits to the accident, well 1 that said our truck had the green, but had our truck going East instead of West. GW paid for the dude's car [was only $2000] but we got stuck with 0. That ticked me off: but not nearly as bad as when a Marten veteran of 6 months backed into a truck that I was driving. Marten did all they could to avoid payment for that one, squirreling about the estimate, refusing to pay the full amount etc. Since Marten could buy the fender for $950, they thought they shouldn't have to pay the $1300 my bodyshop guy was quoted from KW. Marten's KW dealer affirmed the price, and said if ya but 2 million worth in parts everyyear that can be your price too. When my agent said I might have 2 pay a percentage of my deductibleto get my truck fixed, that's when I came unglued. $36000 of premium apparently doesn't buy too much representation these days. When renewal time came around, I told my agent anybody BUT Great West
bullhaulerswife and Hanadarko Thank this. -
Dino1968 - BINGO...this is exactly what my friend on here is dealing with and going through.

I just added "Choice Plus" with GWC last week. It is above and beyond "Choice" and was only $41/yr more.
Never did get a quote or call back with Sentry...I guess that answered that.
