So I need to start washing my own trucks. We have no truck washes nearby and the town/hub where I store the trucks recently changed the rules so mobile wash can't be used.

I'm thinking of using my mechanic's yard and washing them on my own. I'm thinking of using a power washer, something like Simple Green, and a good truck washing brush. What do you guys use? Is there such a thing has degreaser/wash/wax all in one chemical?

    thanks!

We've always just used a steam cleaner. Then go over the cab with a soft brush and regular dish soap.

Any kind of a wash and wax will be fine. Always works better if you have access to hot water to make suds. I personally think dish soap is hard on the paint if you use it all the time but occasionally should be fine. Wont hurt to wax it a couple times a year either ☺

Dish soap will strip any wax on the truck right off.

So what kind of wash would you use? A wash/wax combo maybe?

Wash all wax all. Works wonders that's what I used and always got asked about it. A bottle of that a few microfiber rags and you will be set.

I use Turtle Wax brand soap on my truck and a large brush on a telescoping handle. I also have a 12' ladder to do the roof and sides. I use a hand auto detailing sponge for the lower the ground level stuff and heavy bug residue. It usually takes me 2 hours to wash my truck by myself, but it looks almost as good as a commercial truck wash job. I would not recommend dish detergent because that will cause the clear coat to peel off.

I use (on the rare occasion I actually wash my truck myself) a wash/wax made by Turtle Wax.

Turtle Wash/Wax has good reviews. Maybe I'll use that along with simple green in a small sprayer for the thick grease on the back wall of the cab.

I've always used dish soap on my personal vehicles. I think I've only ever waxed my 2011 once lol. Still looks pretty darn good for 309k. Just that calcium chloride crap they spray on the roads that's hard on the bodywork.
