I have had problems with these things getting stuck and not adjusting. Anyone know a trick to getting them to free up? Next time im gonna try a hammer and punch.

Nope,
If you are refering to solo, they hardly ever make it as long as a manual adjust. Some fleets run them just as a reason to avoid going into the shop to maintain adjustment.
Eaton has some bullcrap procedure about resetting the wear tab and pulling the bellhousing back to pull the throwout farther is supposed to make it adjust when its stuck.
By the time I do all that I might as well replace the clutch.Last edited: Aug 8, 2021

My rule thumb is if it has lever/rod or cable linkage I put and manual adjust clutch in, and if hydraulic release it gets a solo clutch. This doesn't help you at the moment. I have had luck adjusting the linkage so have a tighter yoke to release hearing gap and working clutch pedal in and out rapidly with my foot.

It will only buy time. But use the reset procedure without all the bs. Depress clutch, have someone pry lever to new. Clutch drop it, not running till it stays. Or take air hammer, with hammer bit and rotate, hammering lightly on clutch housing to knock junk loose. Then pry over and release pedal quickly.
I lived the bs nightmare in 99/00 at a IH dealer when those were standard. Some of them were changed before they were sold, some went 150k. Some never moved under its own power. Eaton got the bs procedure from us.
I refuse to reinstall one to this day.Oxbow, pushbroom, spsauerland and 1 other person Thank this.
