Not sure if 'merger' is the right word but:
1) JCT and Hirschbach- about 6 weeks ago started seeing John Christner trailers being pulled by Hirschbsch. And vice versa
2) West Side Transport and GP Transco- saw a West Side guy pulling a green GP trailer 2 weeks ago. Looked online and didn't see any news.
But yesterday saw a GP truck with a West Side trailer so I guess they merged.
Anyone know why West Side decided this? Was it financial trouble or just a desire to get big?
Seen some interesting company mergers

Hirschbach had merged with JCT quite some time ago, at least a year or 2 has passed since. I've seen the GP trucks pulling West Side trailers and vice versa for quite some time now. Maybe they have some unique arrangement. Since you're mentioning unique mergers, I drive by the Butler Transport terminal and I saw Raider Express trucks and trailers there, but I don't know if the 2 merged for real.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Hard to tell, I also saw a JCT and Hirschbach the other day. A few years ago Henderson out of Salem Il. had an agreement with Prime to haul their freight. So, you wouldn't call that a merge. Not sure if Prime was pulling Henderson trailers and Vice versa.

TFI purchased Daseke, which already had gobbled up many smaller platform companies.
Swift - Knight - now US Express.
Older drivers have seen more acquisitions in the past.Flat Earth Trucker, 88 Alpha and exhausted379 Thank this. -
GP might be doing power only. Like all those Amazon prime trailers

West Side out of Cedar Rapids does mostly IP contract freight and Pepsi/Quaker contract freight.
GP is Eastern European with all broker loads from Chicago area so in my opinion it would be a step down for West Side.
Then again if they were in financial trouble there is no choice.
I've seen in the Heartland terminal off of I 380 CFI trucks, so I guess those 2 are working together. This has been for 6 months at least.
