Within the next 18 months I plan on replacing my 475 ISX with what I'm hoping to be is the Signature 600. I wanted to hear from anybody that has one or had one and what their honest reviews are. The pros and the cons from the real world. Looking to gather insight on performance and maintenance, any known issues, and overall driver happiness. I currently have a 13 speed, 3.55 rears, but thinking about maybe jumping up to an 18. I don't haul very much weight at all, this is more of a treat to myself. I want the power when I want to use it. I've never had an engine with that much power and it's time to have some fun. This will all be tucked under the hood of a 09 W9 so I don't really know if the emissions (DPF only) will take some of the fun out of it.

Why not just turn your current ISX to a 600?? And if you’re not pulling heavy swapping the 13 for an 18 will be a complete waste of money.

Both valid points, especially the trans, most likely will be sticking with the 13, and overhauling to a 600 is probably the most economical route as an option.

Signature 600 was an early 2000's engine IIRC. If it is it may be a pain to get the DPF to work with it.

The signature may not be able to communicate with the truck gauges. @spsauerland @Goodysnap may know if it can.

Very good point. The Signature 600 was from prior to multiplexed dashes in the Kenworths IIRC. I think they switched over to multiplexed gauges in around 2006?

Might involve having to replace all the gauges and lights in the dash and an entire re-wire of the dash.

@Diesel Dave does with a cat I believe.

You running cali op? Keep your engine get cpl off the 600 and do it that way. Keep the 13 and save $$$ for other stuff.

I do run Cali and intend to keep doing so even if they "ban" the truck. Not looking to replace gauges and things like that. I had a short conversation with my Cummins rep a few weeks ago and this week we'll dig a little deeper into my options.

So lets use our brains about this.. One swapping to a 18 speed is a waste of money.. Unless you are pulling more then 110k i wouldn't even think of a 18 speed transmission. Buying a Sig 600 to swap into a newer truck is also a waste of money. Upgrade the motor you have when its time to rebuild..

Why not look for an N14 1999 and older. 1st the N 14 is a better moror than the ISX and 2nd you can run paper logs
