I will be driving a long distance and am wondering what seat cushions that some truckers use that you could recommend. When I drive for too long, which wouldn't be too long to a trucker, my back, legs and hips start hurting. I have a seat cushion right now, but it's not doing me nuch good so I thought I'd search out here.

Air ride seats...is why we can do it.

    Not cushions :D

I can't take more than a few hours in my car. But spend all day in the seat of my truck, easily.

Lucky dog. What would be the next best thing? I have to do something. I was looking at the seat cuhsions online but I don't know what to believe. The one I have didn't work so I'm kind of leary.

I sure can't help you there. I've never found a cushion that worked as advertised.

I'm trying to use common sense about this. I have one of those memory foam ones and it seems kind of hard. I was looking on line for a gel type and ran across one of the ones that have a hole in the back of it for the coccyx area, which is the tail bone. It says that by not having anything under that area to put pressure on it that it is better. I wonder if it is true. It kind of makes sense.

I looked at seat cushions for wheel chairs but they are way expensive and I don't know if they would be compatible for the same thing. I hope some others can come along tomorrow to offer some advice.

If I have to keep getting out and walk around every couple of hours it is going to be one heck of a long trip.

I'm a lady so I don't carry it there. Can you tell me which wheelchair cushion you use? There are a whole slew of them.

No problem. I'd be interested to know what cushion you have if it has a tag on it. Thanks.

Last year, on my way home, I got muscle spasms in my lower back so bad that I would have to stop and lay down every two hours. I lucked out and found a little back/seat cushion at Love's. It's 12 volt electric with heat and vibrate massage. It got me home and it's been in my truck ever since. Now, every time my back twinges a bit I turn it on for a few minutes and ahhhhh... relief. Comes with a control for heat/ lower thighs/ lower lumbar/ upper back and costs only around $20. Wouldn't drive without it now.

Bad back is the second most prevalent injury problem amongst truckers. It's no joke. Regular seats, especially in trucks with miles on em are no help. Regardless of make/model standard air-ride seats are el cheapos that wear out in no time. Next time you're in one of the bigger truckstops like Iowa 80, check out their aftermarket, top of the line seats. BTW, I wince every time I see someone being "cool" with those low-rider Pete seats. Ohhhh, you'll pay a price big time.

Furthermore don't ignore what your back is telling you. In my case 2 discs had moved out of place slightly. Find you a chiropractor that uses the new "Pro-adjuster". Entirely painless and almost instant relief. Humana covers it except for your co-pay.

    SuchatruckinLady Thanks this.
