So I was doing some research on this company, and guess what I found. NEXT TO NOTHING!! So I talked to a lady named Jessica up there and I like what I heard. I was so burnt out at my job at Schneider that I needed a change after only 3 years.

So they flew me from the house to here in Overland Park KS for orientation. I flew American Airlines from Shreveport LA to DFW to Kansas City. When I got here to the Ramada, they allowed me 25 bucks a day to eat that Seaboard covered. They have a restaurant here. So I pigged out on Sunday when I flew in.

Today is Monday and had free breakfast, free lunch, and free dinner. This company goes all out to make sure your belly is happy. For lunch I had meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and cornbread. Tomorrow is the same. Only food or drinks I purchased is for snacks and drinks for here in the room.

So on to the things that you really want to know about. These trucks run on CNG. I will give you my review on CNG trucks once I drive one. The trucks have a 13 speed and governed at 70 mph. These trucks, I was told, cost $215,000. They have all the bells and whistles...or so I am told. I will give you a better description when I can.

They have the option to be home weekly or longer. If you want to be home weekly, you will get 2 cents less than if you stay out longer. They have consistent runs to Texas and after July 1, California. But they run all over.

The people here are very down to earth. I am one of the first 58 hired as company drivers. Their first wave of trucks are 58 total trucks. Then they will get another batch in. So hiring is what they are doing.

Seaboard is apart of Seaboard foods. They are a private company which, I believe, is a plus for the drivers. You get paid for everything including holidays. That is unheard of in trucking. They also pay for a shower a day because of the CNG, you don't get points like diesel trucks.

So...that is the jist of what I learned on day 1. We did a lot of paper work and ate a lot! I will attempt to do my best to update this thread since there is not much other info on Seaboard.

So I talked to Jessica today and they received my application yesterday and I honestly cant believe what she told me. It all sounds to good to be true. Payed holidays!!!! Im a L/P driver now and i just have no resemblance of a life cause im always out here on the road. So i would welcome being out 3 weeks and home more and higher pay. I was worried they wouldnt have anything for me cause i live in Florida but she said they are definitely hiring from my area (central fl) and that i would be hauling the finished pork. I did have some questions that she couldnt answer, maybe you can help Ike. 1.The cost of the single plan health insurance. 2. what do the refers run off of. diesel or cng. Also i for got to ask if its paper logs or elog. Doesnt matter to me either way. Very used to both. They just received my application this morning and already have done the employment verification. I still have a friend at the sheriffs office where i used to work. So the sooner my trucking companies send their employment verification back the sooner i can get up there for orientation. Fingers crossed cause it sounds amazing. Did i mention payed holidays!!! Great layover and detention pay also. You do have to give the shipper 3 hours tho. Not unusual. Thanks again Ike for letting us know about this diamond in the rough. And yes i used you as the referral. lol Im patiently waiting for you to upload your day 2 vlog. Anyways stay safe out there drivers and Ike.... 73

    Day 2 is up!!

I'll try to answer your ??s...

For a family, insurance is 44.60 a week. The paper I have shows $85.61 a month for employee only.

The trailer fuel is diesel and we run elogs on PeopleNet. Thanks for using my name. I did warn Jessica....lol...

So I am gonna tell you about Day 2:
We went to the TWIC office to get our TWICs. Then ran by the corporate office. That took up the first half of the day...then it was back to the HyVee for lunch. I had exactly what I had yesterday...Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn bread....shoot...I may do it again tomorrow...lol

The second half of the day was pretty boring...safety videos and all...You know about those right?

Tomorrow morning we finally get to learn how to fuel these trucks. I will learn more about that.

Jessica did tell me that they watched some of my videos and they said they were all game. So when I get this new truck, ITS ON!!! This CNG stuff is really gonna grab some attention.

Yes they pay well for detention. They have too. I've always hated meat packing plants when I was at Butler because they didn't have much detention. I've waited days at a couple of the Dodge City plants. That sucks whether you're getting paid well or not. I just can't sit still. I go crazy. I also don't like receivers waiting on me. It makes me sick in the stomach.

As far as fuel stops...they are scattered. Look at some of these truckstops or gas places. You see those white tanks? Those are either CNG or LNG...They gave us a list of confirmed locations.

So with that...That's all I have. I'm sure I'll have plenty to write about tomorrow night. Thursday we get our trucks.
