Just wondering who else out there has these running in your fleets and what problems you've be having. We bought two of these before switching to the new DD15. Recently, both engines have had rocker bolts break. Both were just short of hitting 500000km. The first engine broke two injector spring off and bent a few valves. Cat replaces the head under warrenty. The other engine we got lucky and just need the bolts replace. Has anyone else had these problems? Both engine have also had turbos fails, new ARD heads and dpf. I'm getting tired of fixing them.

The sdp is the worst engine cat ever made. The rocker bolts happen to some of them, have not heard of turbo issues. The emissions system is a joke. Keep the overheads done
Better yet sell them............Last edited by a moderator: Mar 8, 2014

Mine had valve guides replaced, new dpf, new cac, new head, all under warranty. The new dpf they put on has 180,000 km on it and for the most part functions properly. The initial dpf was a f...... nightmare. I average 5.75 mpg now, us gallons. I consider myself very lucky

I have just had the head off one. It blew a head gasket , the liner protrusion was way down at the bottom of spec it's shocking that cat let it leave the factory like that, it has 300,000 km on it and now the liners are sitting nice and high it has the best chance it's ever had of lasting.
ive seen two others that have dropped valves , one stripped timing gears,
All the carbon on the intake valve stems that builds up from the cgi and acert technology is BAD NEWSLast edited by a moderator: Mar 8, 2014
