Just got out of a 3-month nightmare with Schwerman Trucking out of Milwaukee. They're a tanker company whose equipment is in the shop more than it's on the road. Lots of problems here. Lots of driver unload. Lots of miles driven for free. Bankers hours shops that are open only during weekdays and only during the day. Drivers ignored when they ask for equipment they need for the road. Problems with truck set ups that don't get addressed. Some terminals (depending on state they're in) don't have workmen's comp. Different pay rates, loaded vs. empty. One of the worst outfits I've worked for. Avoid them.

I worked for Schwerman for 5 years and hated every day of it as far as the office and management. Made good money so I stuck it out. Really enjoyed being out on the road running coast to coast running tankers. As long as I avoided the terminal, it was ok. I would delay returning from a run until the office was closed so I wouldn't have to face those nitwits.

Just curious Thane, did you by chance research this company before you WORKED for them for 90 day's?Or did you need 90 more days to be eligible for unemployment? And please say Schwerman has auto's in all their trucks,i wouldnt want to hear that you had to actually shift gears after unloading all that product by yourself!

    Southtexasboy94 and viper822004 Thank this.

No, I unload maybe 25% of our loads, but I like doing it
Some weeks I'll unload every day and then I might go 2 weeks without touching a load.
Most are easy air offs or gravity drops

    whatd Thanks this.

Kind of a wording thing.. You don't need a tanker endorsement to pull an pneumatic.. Rarely (very) hauled a liquid that someone else unloaded.. I can remember only one place and it was inside a refinery..

I used to see their trucks when I hauled cement, out of Logansport, In, and Greencastle, IN. Wasn't impressed.

I like hooking up to the pump..... except that time I blew my valve cap and got the valve wedged in the tank...

But I'm hourly and OT eligible after 40.
    CPM, disregarded.

I've seen their cement covered trucks in my neck of the woods a few times. That alone would make me look elsewhere.

I did their OTR pulling hazmat liquid and some dry bulk. Did a few cement during training period and some of those trailers were manufactured in 1968.
