Hi, I'm helping my husband do some research on what is the best option for a trucking school in Jacksonville, Florida. Is it better to go with one of the schools or to community college? Also, he needs to be hired right away so not sure if that makes a difference. He's 44 and has perfect dmv and bkgd. And had over 20 years delivery experience in Florida. Thanks!![]()

Seaturtle, I'm currently going to FSCJ (FCCT) They have a low-cost program with better training. However, it is not a 3 week blow by course. It's a 8 week course that really goes in depth of trucking and how to drive the trucks
4 weeks class room
4 weeks driving training
$2,400-$2,500 give or take a few.
Joe is my current instructor and he is a great guy. John is another instructor, I only had him for 2 days since he was filling it and he seemed like a great guy, He does have a complete different teaching style though. This school is not known in the are yet, they have only been open for 4 years. They built a new 4mil skills pad, and currently in the process of purchasing 4 new volvos.
NTI is known in the area to, but they are pricey and will feed you misleading information if they don't know the answer to your question.
Roadmaster from every drive I've talked to in this are told me it was a overpriced joke with poor quality training.
But this all falls based on your financial situation. If you can afford FSCJ (Which does have VA but no student loans) then I'd put my money in them. I've enjoyed everything so far and right now I am learning on the equipment. I'll give you the main office phone number if you want it. -
I would recommend going to the community college. It takes a few weeks longer but you get a much better quality education. My husband and I are taking a 9 week course in St. Petersburg (PTEC) and are not regretting our choice at all. We paid around $2,100 each.
