Okay guys I have looked all over the forum for answers for about 2 days and cant find it. My question is about obtaining a CDL for the dully and 3 car setup. I have a grasp on everything needed to start the business but my main issue is about where can I go to school to train besides going to a school that teaches you how to drive a semi. Is there a school where I can be taught with a dully and 3 car trailer out here in California? I just think its a little to much to learn on a semi which i will never see for a very long time. So if they're other options about practicing for the CDL driving test please share.

    thanks

Spend the $500-$700 go to a driving school because you will need a truck for the road test. You can buy a CDL test program online for around $30 and practice the questions then go to your local DMV and take all the written tests. After you have passed all the written tests find a driving school in your area and start your hand-on training, look on your local Craigslist.

FYI, you will regret the dually & 3-car setup you won't be making any more than working a job.

the issue I have is finding those schools with the type of truck and trailer to train with. is there a certain keyword I can search.Or I have to call around and see who has it.
for the written tests have a friend that has all the material for me to study. but will defiantly look into online sources.

There is no school that’s specifically directed toward a dully. Reason being, they are NOT commercial trucks. If you want a CDL because you’re going to be over 26k gvwr, youll have to take your road test in an actual commercial vehicle, I.E. Class 8 truck with trailer. Maybe there is someone on the forum that knows differently than I do, but Im 99% I’m right.

You are right there's no driving school teaching a dually. A dually could be a commercial truck however because if pulling a trailer with a combination weight over 26,000 lbs a class B driver license is needed. Driving schools do offer training for class B but it's mostly for school bus drivers.

You won't find a driving school teaching a dually and a 3-car trailer, there is nothing to it. Most driving schools will train you using a short single axle tractor and a short 30' trailer it's easy to maneuver. After you get your class A CDL you can drive a dually or a full fledged 18 wheeler. You should start with doing a DOT medical physical exam (find a DOT examiner in your area), you have to be in good health in order to get a CDL.

So you're just born with an instinct of driving a truck? You must be a special species.

Get the CDL-A so you're prepared for whatever may happen.
There was or maybe still is a cheap cdl school in Los Angeles. Don't know what the price is these days, but you can check.
