Who has taken the Schneider pre work screen? What's it like/consist of? Easy or hard?

It's fairly easy. You have to watch your heart rate because it that goes over a certain point you will be disqualified. I believe it is 80 % of your maximum heart rate based on age. There is a video of the test on youtube. Stepping up and down about a foot for sixty seconds, picking up 20, 40, 60 pounds, pulling 100, 120 pounds, walking on a crossbeam forwardfs, backwards and sideways. If you do any exercise at all now you will have no problem.

Main thing is watch your breathing, namely...don't forget to do it! If you're not athletically inclined, it helps to practice a little.

Ask me how I know this....:biggrin_2556:....but seriously....I practiced in my basement. Controlled breathing helped me avoid anxiousness and got me through it, even as round as I was then...am still am now.

Your max heart rate number is 220 minus your age times .9

As long as you dont go over that number you'll be god to go. Remember to breathe!! Its easy. There were a few obese fellas in my class and they passed.

You can watch a video of what they ask you to do. Your recruiter can send you a link. I just did this in October and I passed no problems. After each "station" you get a short break, if memory serves me right I think a minute or two between each test. You have to do a step test and during that your pace is set by a metronome. You have to be able to lift (30-40 lbs?) to at least shoulder height, slightly over shoulder height to simulate putting your bags and/or equipment into your truck. Carry weight over short distance, squat and pick it up, 2 different weights, I think 35 and 40 lbs. You have to be able to squat and move under a table that is at trailer height. You need to be able to hoist yourself up on a platform that is the height of trailer. And you need to be able to pull a certain amount of weight. It is all to simulate things you would required to do in the normal course of work. Don't be overly worried. You can practice at home. When I came through only one person couldn't pass and it was because his blood pressure got too high when he was doing the step test. They give you 2 try's.

    Good luck!
