Long story short I gave it up on having my own authority (mostly personal reasons not directly related to the business). I have one truck left and am considering leasing on to a company. Schneider kind of caught my attention because I wouldn't have to deal with a dispatcher or pay a fee for the trailer and I would have the ability to leverage their discount program for maintenance (even though I do 100% of my maint. and 70% of my repairs), fuel, etc.... Anyone haul tanks for them?

I was just curious if anyone here runs for them as an O/O and what you guys think... How's the money? Thanks

Why not go to an O/O company like Landstar instead of going to a mega that only has O/O's as a side business to toss a load to them only when they don't have their own in the area?

Landstar is a mega carrier. Landstar is all owner op but still pay subpar rates comparable to Schneider (at least from the information I can find). I’ve heard less than nice things about Landstar too but I don’t really know what to believe. Thanks for your feedback

Find a small company. Cut your costs. Schneider is a joke just like Shaffer and co.

If you get desperate, go drive a Walmart rig for 100k this year.

So try Mercer or admiral merchants or any of the other smaller to mid size companies, what’s your location and what kind of wagon do you have? Someone may even be able to point you in the right direction I’d park my truck in the barn and go work for McDonald’s before Id sign on to a mega

I have no factual information on Schneider but that free trailer isn’t free

Thanks for the feedback guys. I ran in the oilfield for a while and made great money. I still have a 130 barrel water tanker trailer and one truck left but don't have an OTR trailer like a van or reefer. I do have a flatbed but its just a 40' gooseneck. Long story short but a couple bad relationships and a couple broken hearts later, I'm flat broke at the worst time with these crap rates and high fuel :D frig my life LOL. I'll figure it out though, its not my first dance with hard times. I might even take a company gig... I'm keeping my last truck though, at the beginning of this year I just dumped about 20k in a new engine and a bunch of other work so she's in tip top shape and the title is all mine :) I absolutely refuse to borrow money either so I'm kind of stubborn and probably creating more of my own problems since I've always been the type to do it on my own...

    I just wanna drive

They come from a drop/hook "pool", too.. Which probably means that they're all crap and ran into the ground since more than likely none of the previous drivers wanted to take the time to have them fixed... The more I think about it the more I think I'll pass.

The only upside I can see right now from the bigger carriers is most of them do little work on the spot market and the spot market has taken a massive crap right now with the rates. Most of them have pretty good discounts with fuel and such too. The mega carriers leave an awful taste in my mouth though. They have destroyed the industry
