I never said sni's weekly pay was better. What I did say was that how SNI pays me doesn't come in a weekly check. Of the companies that hire new drivers, SNI seemed to have to best reviews among both drivers, and other companies.

I would rather make half the rate at SNI, knowing I can get a much better job later, than work a job where pay is their best quality. I collect my checks to live. But I collect anything else so I can thrive.

That, is what I meant. SNI does take pretty good care of their equipment from what I can tell. The outside may not look nice and shiny, but your hiring new people and letting them use it. Surely you don't expect that equipment to stay shiny and new? Even I know that's a bunch of silliness...

Nice! Made me laugh. I got a good one in on the cb today. Slower driver hogging the middle lane. (Marten.). Usually don't get involved, but after 2-3 others asked him to move over and a WERNER driver moved over for faster traffic...

"Marten. Move over. Even Werner knows to do that." ...was funny how quick he moved over then.

    How would I know?
I'm an IC at Schneider and I pull their trailers, go to their yards.. see their equipment and spoke to the drivers here.
Haven't been here long but enough to see what's going on.

Btw Schneider's pay for noobs was .26 CPM one year ago for OTR.. they offered me that. Now it's .32 CPM.
After one year you're still not at .40 CPM. I met a driver with over 10 years experience told me he's making .38 at Schneider, met that guy at the Carlisle terminal. Dunno if he's telling me the truth but still.
Prime starts noobs with zero experience at .43 (in their tiny trucks) and bonus over that.
Schneider's company trucks are more cheap and beat than at Crete lol.

Half of the trailers I've pulled here are over 10 years old some over 15 years old and the doors don't even close right on a bunch I've had.

I'm only here because of their load board and picking my own freight BUT company drivers are getting bent over here.

I can see that even being new. C/o does get burned. I do feel the same way as I did before though, SNI I believe is a good company to move on from. Though some of the older drivers do like SNI. Sni's policies are what I hear the most complaints about.

As for trailers... If they do what they are supposed to do, are okay with the dot and don't cause an issue...does it really matter how old they are? Though I've run across some with the doors like that, it's irritating. I deal mostly with roll doors though.

Personally I'd rather make .38cpm and get 3000 miles per week versus running refrigerated and dicking around with lumpers and grocery warehouses all the time at 43cpm. They're lucky to get 2200 miles per week in their slug tractors. But for me even that wasn't enough to stay company which is why I made the switch.

Company trucks are a joke for the most part. Only exception are the lucky few that get the T680's. Running company wasn't as bad prior to them taking away our ability to idle. Now it blows.

There might be a few 15 year old trailers in circulation but I have never seen any. And there are very few trailers over 10 years. At most (a generous estimate) 15-20% of the trailer pool is at or over 10 years old. .1% might be over 15 years. The only trailers over 10 years old are TA93xxxx and TA94xxxx. You don't see TA93 hardly ever anymore. TA95 is approaching 10+ years, TA97 is probably 8 years old, 98 7 years old, 99 6 years old, etc etc. If you want to see where all the new trailers are go to Home Depot in McCalla AL or Topeka KS. Those dedicated accounts horde new trailers and they always release the oldest possible trailers to OTR drivers when you drop there.

Thanks for your honest input, DriveHer.
You are absolutely correct in everything that you report. For several reasons, there are those that, either purposely or otherwise, are attempting to foil the actual truth in regards to the ludicrous low pay that all the large trucking companies have to offer.

    The best advice that I can give is the challenge that I have been laying down to anyone that defends any and all the large megas;
If you are considering going to work for these companies (Schneider, Conway Truckload, Knight, Werner, Swift, Etc.), physically go to any truckstop and personally speak to actual drivers in regards to pay, hours and conditions; a very easy thing to do.
And I do mean... do it.
Speak to as many drivers as possible.

Again, this is a personal challenge to all you drivers that keep harping about how you can do well at these companies if you just "pay yer dues, put on yer man suit, and get your time in".

Incidentally, these fellows salivated when it was suggested that you 'just quit'; to which I would reply, "better yet would be if you or anyone else never worked there at all".

Bottom line: all these large companies are totally taking advantage of their employees in regards to both substandard pay and conditions, and the best proof of this is to speak to real drivers, in person.

yeah all this stuff about miles.. I do agree about reefer BUT I did get miles.

I worked for Shaffer and got tons of miles, I got many weeks 3000 miles plus but I had to kill myself to get the miles with all the crazy flipping appointment times.
The lifestyle sucked, heavy Northeast, barely any sleep, lumpers and grocery warehouses did suck.
I made good money at Shaffer (for an OTR company driver) but hated my life lol.
Haven't been anywhere near AL or KS. Maybe I've just had bad luck with the preloaded trailers I've gotten as mostly they've been old.
I saw a lot of new MT nice trailers at the Carlisle terminal.. trailer tail, self inflating tires and all but of course ######## put kingpin locks on all those MT trailers :biggrin_25510:

Company trucks a joke there the same freightliners that these lease are operators are renting from. The company kW aren't any better then cascadia. Just name recognition. Hey look ma I'm a big boy got me a kenworth toot toot. Schneider specs there trucks one level above bare bones. The parksmart unit tractors drivers love them but Schneider isn't see a big return on those trucks so they cut back on ordering them. That was told to me by the terminal manager in Charlotte. So that right there just shows Schneider doesn't give rats azzz about there drivers but padding there bank acts.
