I sold my truck and stayed home for a period, my wife had a battle with cancer. All us good now thankfully.
I tried local transit for a brief period, not for me.
So.. I'm looking for a truck and found some 2012 Schneider Gliders for sale. Around 400k miles on them. Wondering if anybody else has bought one and how they are making out with it. It has a 12.7 det 10sp with 267 rears. Low pro 22.5s bare bones truck. Looking for any info on these trucks, is the engine a Detroit rebuilt? Did they rebuild in house? Any info greatly appreciated.

From what I understand talking to Schneider mechanics, they are Detroit rebuilds assembled by outside dealers. But they primarily were setup for weight savings for our bulk division. Might be a great deal monetarily, but they spread out oil changes to 60k at Schneider, so you'll want to invest in oil and coolant samples before you buy. If they pm'd right before selling than it's a total guess on engine quality imo. Personally I think they could be a great deal, but they will be as "bare bones" as you can get. Company Cascadias don't even have suspension dumps if that tells you anything.

I figured they were bare bones. I'm ok with that. I don't want another emission truck, so it's pretty much an 05- 07 and deal with egr or a glider. I dont want to go 180k to get a new glider right now. I'll know more Monday or Tuesday when I get there and check them out. Thanks for the info.

Fitz sells Columbia gliders for 115 new, where are you pulling a 180k figure from?

I'm in Canada. Can't bring glider accross the border, ND with our dollar in the crap per it's 180 for anything new.

New wrinkle. Apparently you are buying as is where is. No test drive , other than their lot (10mph) can't take it anywhere to get it checked out. Might be a deal breaker for me. They are not priced at wholesale so I may walk

I'm thinking also to replace my 780 with used Schneider glider , but it's still running . About 2 months ago, they had 5-6 glider units in Toronto , no warranty , no financing you have to bring a check , mileage from 350k prices all over 55,000cad; should be still parked there, i doubt people would jump to buy quickly in this circumstances.

Checkee out a couple with a mechanic. Mechanic said they were all okay to purchase. The started with 9 units, someone bought 3 and some more got sold and some more were added.
Person told me next batch will come up for sale in January. I did not purchase one because of other circumstances.TallJoe and Elroythekid Thank this. -
They have 4 there now. They are not cheap and quite a crap shoot. Without at least driving your not sure what your getting and no mechanic can tell from looking and parking lot 10mph test drive if the trans power divider and rears are ok. If they were wholesale pricing maybe take a chance but at high retail I'm not so sure.
