In early November of 2021 I applied for a job with Schneider OTR. I had been in contact with a recruiter, Chee. After a few weeks I didn't hear back so I went to the Schneider website and saw that my application had been withdrawn. The reason was because Schneider had no job openings in USA-American Samoa which is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the South Pacific Ocean, southeast of the independent state of Samoa.
I notified the head of Schneider Recruiting Department and stated that, due to the bizarre entry, and that I applied for OTR in Florida, I would like to know what is going on. I even asked for another recruiter, but they said no.
So finally this recruiter, Chee finally gets back to me and says that I need to reapply for the job I want. No one offered an explanation as to where this USA-American Samoa came from, who entered it or how it even appeared. Perhaps Chee is from the USA-American Samoa... who knows, but I can assure that I didn't see any job openings in the USA-American Samoa area, and if I did, I would not have applied for that area living here in Florida.
The recruiter Chee and I spoke over the phone and through emails discussing my next move so we decided to move forward in getting me into training and back on the road again. I went through their DOT Physical and drug screening and they sent me a prehire form and a schedule with a preplanned trip info sheet. I asked about a rental car and hotel information and he said that I will be all set to go to Budget Rental and pick up my car. I still didn't have any hotel information but thought I would figure all that out as I went along.

That morning I got all packed and headed to the car rental place. I told the guy at the counter that I was there to pick up my car, but he couldn't find me in the system. If asked to provide a employee or driver number when picking up the rental car, there's a number I can give them...nope, can't find that either. If there's any issues and need verbal confirmation of your travel, your travel requirement can be validated by calling Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. CST, Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. CST and Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CST.
So I call the number and the guy tells me that he also cannot find any reservation information on me, car rental nor hotel... reason is, my recruiter never called anything in. He gives me another number to call in which I am now sent to an automated answering system, you know, press this for that then press that for something else. I finally get to the correct department only to be told that they're open during the week days, but closed on the weekends. I am then transferred to an operator where I sit on hold for a very long time. By this time I am pissed. Will be looking for another company that doesn't treat its future employees like crap.
Schneider dropped the ball... twice.

Schneider veteran here.
With all due respect--based on my experiences there, I'd say your above-described enigma is probably far more of a recruiter problem--& not necessarily a Schneider (company) problem.
This is a little bit like me quitting girls, just because I had a couple of successive bad dates.
Having said all that--I'm certainly not going to try to talk you into going back to Schneider.
Hey, I left them, too....but for still other reasons.
The GOOD news: given the current market for drivers, there are other companies out there that will probably hire you--and pay you MUCH BETTER than Schneider would have, anyway.

Sounds about right for the recruitment department of Schneider. I worked for them 2 different times and on both times they forgot to get me a hotel.
I live 3 hours from one of their terminals so on both occasions I drove to the listed hotel and on both occasions they never even made a reservation for me. However this seemed to a common thing for this hotel that they use so they put in me in a room, both times, till they could get in touch with corporate on a weekday.
Schneider as a company runs pretty much like any other mega company with goods and bads but like other large companies, each department is like its own company and one department may be killer while the other is hot garbage.Savor the Flavor, Another Canadian driver, stevep1977 and 2 others Thank this. -
To me, an example of the way a company is ran and how you're treated starts at the front door. If Schneider is aware of how their recruiters are doing their jobs (and I'm sure that they are, if not they do now) then they would want to make a good impression from the start.
Any one person or department that is connected to a company is under the control of that company. Me, being a driver for a company fails to complete an agreement made between shipper and receiver. If I know in advance that I'm unable to complete my services, I give all those involved a heads up so alternative plans can be made.
If I fail to communicate any foreseeable issues in a timely manner, then my job is on the chopping block. Anyone and everyone knows that something may or may not come up during operations, but if it happens regularly, then something or someone has to change.
If there's no change set forth to correct any further mishaps, then it's an example of what you and I can expect throughout that company. So, this is what I see when I enter into a business transaction, rather it be buying a car, going into a doctors office or something as simple as walking into a laundromat.
Buying a car - sales person is either going to ignore you or try smothering you to compete with others for a sale. Doctors office - people sitting around grumbling, people bleeding without anyones attention, women agonizing in labor, I'd walk back out. Laundromat- dirty floors, druggies hanging out, people sleeping on the floor, out order signs taped on machines on old yellowing paper.
It all starts by appearances. It's easy to miss judge people and businesses once, but if there's no change in behavior after a second or third visit, the people involved through the chain of command simply don't give a rat's butt about the people they're trying to connect with.Savor the Flavor, Another Canadian driver, LtlAnonymous and 2 others Thank this. -
Some co's use 3rd party recruiters, not sure about Schneider. That could be the problem here. In this day and age, most everything is "confirmed" via e/mail, which would have made your life easier ? Yes/no ?
