Hey everyone!
I'm graduating CDL school on Friday and just scheduled a phone interview for this account.
It's based out of Leesport, PA hauling reefer for Schwan's. Pays $990/week and is home most days with Friday and Saturday off. It's all driver unload with 2-3 stops per load.
Aside from driver unload (which really isn't too big of a deal to me), it seems too good to be true. Does anyone know if this is a new account? Anyone with experience on it that can shed some light?

@gentleroger do you know anything about this?
Hope your backing is on point. It's not too good to be true because $990 per week is on the low end for driver unload/multi-stop work. Schneider kinda sucks btw. -
My backing is pretty good, I know I'm gonna be working in some tight spaces. I think $990 is good in my position, the big LTL companies around here want you to be 23, and I want to be home mostly every day. In a year or so maybe I can get away from the super carriers and find a better local job but from what I see now this looks like the best choice.

Yeah, probably not a lot to choose from in that part of PA. Look into beer distributors and Coca-Cola/Pepsi if you want to be local and are willing to unload, before you pull the trigger on Schneider. They usually hire students and will train you.
Also, the "interview" is only going over your application lol they just make it sound special. -
I do have an application in at Yuengling in Pottsville, but I haven't heard anything back from them in 3 weeks. I looked into McLane too but I'd rather make a couple hundred less than run 20 as an extraboard, reset, then go back out, not really being "home" at that point.
And yeah, the recruiter told me it was just reviewing everything and setting up orientation but I'd like to think it's a little more professional and not a hand out. haha -
Sounds like you've done your homework. Keep your expectations realistic and you'll be fine, I worked for Schneider and vague statements like "home most nights" are usually stretching the truth, for example the account I was on was advertised "home more than weekly" and that actually happened about 3-4 times in the year that I was there.
#1 priority: Don't hit anything and you can get into a good LTL job in due time. -
Don't know anything about this account, or really much about dedicated at all. Pay seems decent for no experience. As long as there are raises over time it doesn't sound bad. Doesn't sound great either, but I don't know that market.
milehunter43 Thanks this. -
$990 doesn't sound bad for someone with zero experience home most nights and weekends. It's not a ton of money, but it gives you experience and your home.

Most Schwans shouldn't be too bad really..
Done some Schwans stuff before not dedicated and not driver unload...but backing isn't any different than anywhere else really..
There will be some tough ones but most should be OK.
