I was never a fan of the 470 or 480 for that matter, Pablo ua or v8 Lenny or 98989 ,all those know those engines. Best of luck!
-
the injection system used on this scanias is very capricious, you should check all valves ,o- rings, test for air sucking

is there everything ok with turbocompound? as much i know they were not offered at your market maybe your service have no experience with it .....they usually need service at 600 000km maybe it cuts your power
-
Turbocompound is why I never bought this truck,

hello, everybody ...thanks for your reply..
Ya, my scania 124, 470 engine with turbocompound, you are right man... the local dealer, they dont even check the turbocompound and i dont think they can take care for that. this type of truck is very less in my country.
I have no idea for the turbocompound, should i replace it? it is possible with used unit? and how to troubleshoot or service?
Today i get my truck for fuel pressure test, connect the guage to fuel filter housing and show 250psi at 700rpm.
thanks, -
repair on turbocompound in europe cost 3000€
no replace they usually need bearings or sometimes other things but not replace
engine 470hp is quite strong if working normally it can overperform some 500hp engines
did you check for fault codes? is there any?
there is one scania r470 here converted to 420 (in europe we had 420 as euro2 later as euro3 as pde -same as on your market and after as euro3 with hpi injection (same as used on 470) ....also we had 440 with 4nox for austria with turbocompound this was very problematic one -
I've heard some horror stories about turbecompound, the bearing breaking and being sucked into the engine

but that second turbo dont have inlet side but only exhaust
that second turbine use energy of exhaust gasses and transform them in rotational power and put them on flywheel as additional "free" power
they consist inside of power turbine and on other side gears hydaulic clutch, in our conditions here turbocompound engine get 1L lower fuel consmption than 420 in average , only case when it does not have fuel benefits are when you are empty on highway
they are quite "slow" you need about one or two gearchanges before it would start to workWorthken and Scania man Thank this.
