Is there a standard charge for scales, like Cat Scales? I am guessing that is something the driver pays out of pocket. Will companies reimburse the driver for that like tolls?

A Cat scale is now $10 for the first weigh. I am not sure if they charge for reweighs or if it still free. It has always been reimbursed by my company.
-
its 10 dollars first weight and 2 dollars for re-weight, you pay it out of pocket and summit the receipt to your company and they will reimburse u back
-
Thanks. Are there other scales too? I was looking at one of the Pilot magazines that had a listing of their locations, and what was there, and they all pretty much had Cat scales listed.

In general..
Depends on where you go, for a 53, it runs $8.00 to $12.- $1 to $2 for a reweigh. yes you get reimbursed, so long as you pay attention to it
certified to cat scales. sometimes the only scale around one has to make due with -
Thats not too bad. I guess it is incentive to learn how to shift the tandems, and everything right so as not to keep reweighing. Of course, I am thinking it is easier to read about than to start doing it on the ground. Thanks!

yea 10 dollars for Cat scales. and a dollar to re-weigh. i believe Cat scales are the only truck scale chain. You'll come across different scales at locally owned truck stops. like that little mom and pop places. The range can vary between those types. I think when i started driving 5 years ago, Cat scales were either 8.50 or 9.00. Not that it matter, just making an overall statement. lol

Yeah catscale tickets used to be $9.50 until they added those cool collector cards and boosted the price up .50 cents more

Have to be careful some scales. I picked up a load of apples in WA and they generally run heavy. I went to the only scale in Wenatchee and paid $5 for a hand written ticket. Got to the nearest CAT scale about 100 miles away and somewhere along the way, picked up another 700lbs...
Always make sure you are legal. CAT seems to be the best. -
There used to be another chain called Interstate Scales. I remember they offered free reweighs. Keep in mind that cat scale reweighs are good for 24 hrs so if you go to a shipper that requires an empty scale ticket, just head back to that scale after you load, that way you don't pay $20 for 2 weighs, just $12.
