Yep, I realize there is no such thing but I'm wondering where the closest place to park is between Sanfran and Sacramento? Rest area, pull off, Walmart, industrial parking lot, it doesn't matter. I just need something as close to the bridge as possible to take a 10.

The receiver spoke nearly zero English... but told me I could park in front of their building on the STREET. From what I've heard parking on the street in Sanfran is a big no-no. I have no further interest in supporting Californias economy so I'm not interested in chancing parking on the street.

So far the Walmart in Dixon off the 80 is the closest place I now for sure I can park. That puts me about ~80 miles out. I'm on elogs so every bit closer I can get will make a big difference.

    TIA!

    Maybe . . .

    1) There's the 49er TS on 80, a mile or two west of the I-5/80 interchange, but that's east of Dixon a few miles.

    2) Google Maps -- Find 80/680 interchange. Look for Lopes Road then Watt and Fulton -- that's a light-industrial park (warehouses, mostly; I used to pick up there). I used to park on Watt and no one ever bothered me. This is on the south side of 80 -- Vacaville/Cordelia Junction area, and closer than Dixon.

    3) Just north of 80/680 interchange there's a Costco and a Wal Mart, but I don't know how they are about truck parking.

    4) What street are you going to in SF? I grew up there.

    5) What time is your delivery? Go early, Bay Area traffic can be brutal, especially during commute hours.

Oakland is the same. Ziltch. I park near french camp in the valley, or at flying J Ripon on 99 and drive in real early like 3 am before the road gets clogged with 4 wheelers. Its just better to go to the valley and park in a field. :biggrin_25523:

EBMUD has a area in front of the guard shack that you could park in. They are near the port of Oakland at the MacArthur interchange. Take the first 880 exit to W Grand Ave. Make a right and go to the next intersection. This is Wake Ave. Go right and follow Wake ave to the wide area at the end of the road. You will some see embedded train tracks. Do not cross the tracks and instead go to the right and you'll be out of the way. I've had to shut down here a few times. Don't idle the truck and nobody will mess with you. You may also be able to park at the Qualawash in Richmond at Goodrick ave and Richmond Parkway. The gate is always open and they don't care if you idle or not as long as you're out of the way. I've had set there as well.

The corner of Toland and Oak Dale. Appt time is 0800. I plan to leave an hour early. Enough you think?

I just checked that area on Google earth using -2009 Wake Ave, Oakland, Ca- for the address and it looks promising. Only 10 miles away from my first drop!

I have a spot I can park in Hayward but I wont get there until ~10PM which leaves it sketchy weather or not it will have open spots. It also leaves me 30 miles out and 28 miles out of route.

So far the plan will be to try your spot and if it fails It's still on the way to my spot in Hayward.

Okay, Toland and Oakdale, between US 101 and 280. Gotcha.

If you do the 10 on Wake Ave. and leave at 0:700, you might just make it on time -- I know it's not all that far, but there'll be lots of traffic at that hour. I'd leave at 0:630 and if I could park on the street at the drop, I'd look for a donut shop! Hopefully, you won't have to go OOR to Hayward.

(What will happen is that you'll get to the drop and find that you could have parked on the street and that there's a great donut shop or a pizza place just down the block!)

Hey, let us know how it went. Safe trip.

There's a small TS off the 80 in Dixon N/O the highway....
Dirt lot with a small "C" store....Not much, but it's place to park.

The rest area W/O Suisun is still closed......The bay pretty much is no place for a rig other than for P&D......

####, 0630 to go 10 miles to make an 0800 appt. I didn't think the traffic would be that bad but I'll take your word for it.

Yeah, this is exactly what will happen.:biggrin_25513: I checked the drop out on Google Earth and it "looks" park-able (plus receiver said I could) but I heard/read there is a no over night CMV parking ordinance in SF, so I didn't want to chance it and the receiver definitely was no use when I questioned him on the ordinance.

    Will do and thanks!

Isn't that pretty much how the entire state treats truckers?:biggrin_25513:

There's supposed to be a rest area on the 280 N/B side about MM 35.....
There's one on 101 N/B side past the GG bridge....
