Looking for local San Diego companies. Im looking for ones where I'll get good driving time as opposed to something like pouring cement or throwing cases of soda. Is there anything here like hauling gravel or sand from quarries paid by the load simlar to hauling coal?
Thank you

Sand and Gravel/dirt/asphalt can pay hourly or by the ton or by the load here in San Diego county. John's trucking, Santee, Burns and sons, Spring Valley, and Kelly and assoc, Spring Valley are all established bottom dump operations. Superior out of Escondido, Robertsons out of Corona (but with operations in Otay) are bottom dumps and also transfers. Hanson and Vulcan operate some quarrys with their own equipment.

Thank you appreciate it. I'll try and go see them in person. Do you have any idea of what some of the hourly wwages are like?

Hanson and Vulcan are company positions as is Superior redimix (which also operates bottom dumps/transfers). Not sure of payscale, probably $16-$18 range. Superior is a great company, but all these operations will slow way down in the winter months. John's/Kelly/Burns will be percentage, you won't get rich. John's (John De Federico) is also a broker and gets most work in San Diego.

Don't forget robertson's ready mix (I believe they pay 14 plus percentage but don't quote me). SD is generally hard to find a good job since everyone and their mom's want to move there. I spread my time between PB and HB but work out of Paramount
