Haven't been here in a number of years but didn't remember it being this bad. All the truckstops here on the east side seem to be full of poor truckers going nowhere, lot lizards, drug dealers, pirate movie sellers, and hawkers of cologne and perfume. Kind of reminds me of Dallas or Houston.
It is what is. I don't mean to speak bad of these folk. There are a lot of good drivers hanging around as well. But I just didn't remember San Antonio like this. I guess it has been like this for some time.
San Antonio is hardcore

The only truckstop that I've witnessed any "action" at is the Flying J. The TA across the freeway was pretty quiet, I sat with my windows open and didn't get hassled once by anybody.
07-379Pete, roaddawg92 and CommDriver Thank this. -
I was at the Flyin' J yesterday and the Petro today. Nobody hassled me at the Petro, but I'm just talking about the overall atmosphere. I think somebody dumped a gallon of urine where I was parked. Of course the warm air and humidity down here makes that worse.
This could be anywhere, but I'm just saying, I didn't expect this from San Antonio. I don't know why, haven't been here in years.
Anyway I guess it's just truck stop life in America. But I'm still saying, I would take West Memphis over this.RockinChair Thanks this. -
Loves does have a location just south of SA on I35 and Loop 410. Can't speak of the "quality" of the place since I only live a few miles away.
CommDriver Thanks this. -
It was that way 20 years ago, only the faces have changed.
CommDriver Thanks this. -
The TA in San Antonio is the most decent place to park in San Antonio...there's too much rift raft at flying j.

I've noticed that the "ladies" at the Flying J won't come up to your truck unless you signal them. I've always stayed there when I'm in San Antonio and have never had one knock on my door. As a matter of fact, other than somebody hanging out by the front door looking for a ride, I've never been approached by anyone.

Last time I was parked at flying j San Antonio, there was a San Antonio police officer had a lot lizard detained on the back row...but like anything else, they won't come if there's no business.
