I purchased my 2000 Freightliner back after it was totaled. I ran over debris on highway and it damaged driveline and air lines. Just found out I will need to get a rebuilt title to put truck back in service. Has anyone experienced this. I am in Georgia.

I think you have to go to the DMV about this. They put a code on the title that it's a rebuilt wreck; so the next owner, after you, is aware of it. A salvage yard can probably give you details as to what documentation you need.

every state has different rules. Some states it is as simple as taking your receipts to the local police and they give you a new serial number. I also know that Insurance companies are more reluctant to insure 4 wheelers that have been repaired so I would bet that they are alot more concerned about big trucks.
Here is the problem with salvage. Buddy does the same damage as you on a new Pete and they spend 20000$ and fix it. Away he goes- good as new. Now you do it to a $30,000 truck and they write it off as they are not going to spend over half the book value on repairs . Both trucks can be repaired properly but one has a salvage title.
Lots of dum bass people with knee jerk reactions when they hear "salvage".30 Minutes Thanks this. -
Take shop receipts and safety inspection to dmv. They may 'mark' your ownership so that if you were to try to sell the truck the buyer would know about the rebuild. Keep all bills from the fix incase you want to sell the truck you can show what work was done to get her rollin again

Never done one myself, but the DOR has this FAQ.
At the very least, work has to be done by a licensed rebuilder, then inspected at a state approved inspection station. Looks like it's time consuming and a lot of fees to get the "rebuilt" brand on the title.
Good luck.30 Minutes Thanks this. -
