Well, I have been with Salem for 6 months, now.(got my bonus check today. And I got to say I really like my job. Salem and MI windows are both great companies. I have received every bit of pay that I was told I would receive and then some. Some days it sucks because it hot, like today, (Brownsville, Texas) and your unloading 400 plus windows. But, I got my exercise. I have not seen snow this winter season as I run I10 and I20 and occasionally go up to KC and Saint Louis. Most weeks I leave out Saturday or Sunday and am back Wensday night or early Thursday morning. Last week was the exception and didnt make it back til Saturday morning, but it will be a very nice paycheck. Help pay for the new bass rod I just purchased. Usually off for 2-3 days but this week did a quick 34 and grabbed a Sunday night load to the border and back then pick a short haul to georgetown,tx(home). take a few days off then leave out Sat/Sun...I don't really have any complaints, I have figured out that some jobs work for some people and attitude is half the battle. Sorry for rambling on. Just want to say that I reaally like my job, it works for me. Safe travels to you all.

Are you still working for Salem Carriers? If so how do you like it? I want to move up towards Winston Salem area and I seen that they are hiring. Is the pay pretty good?

I think the pay is really great. Especially to have 2 days a week off in the same place every week. Most weeks i average 900 to 1000 after taxes. I jave a lot of 1200. $ weeks and sometimes 1400$...but sometimes there are the short weeks and i only make 300 to 500..they are the exception and dont happen too often...overall i really like the company.

Ok I have one more question.. Do you run days or night time? I'm sure since your doing delivers you drive during the day? Also when do you leave out and come back in to be home and what times do you leave out and get back? Thanks. Everything else sounds great and I have interview next week with them.

Usually, i leave dallas, tx on sat or sun headed to florida..like to leave around noon but sometimes the load isnt ready until later, up to midnight, in which case i have to drive through the night to make 7am monday morning delivery...i prefer to get to the destination and be reset so soon as i am unloaded i can head towards Ga for a backhaul... Sometimes like this week i had to drive it and had been on the clock for 6 hours when i arrived at delivery...i picked up backhaul load this morn and have to be in hutchins tx thurs at 9am...plenty of time since they arent 24 hours ops, no point in deiving myself to death....every load works out different...i really like the ones i get that have 8 or 9 stops, and the first stop is only 830-900 miles away instead of 1100-1200. Easy days....the biggest thing most dont like about it is we have to help unload the windows...it doesnt bother me because we get paid for the stop, i get lots of exercise, and we get hourly pay if it takes longer than 2 hrs. Some stops could take all day, others 5-10 minutes...i dont know how the operations out of the other yards work, i would thing similar though...i like this way better than hauling reefer OTR...

Sounds like you work out of Texas? I'll be working out of Winston Salem. The whole unloading part doesn't bother me as like you said it's exercise and you need it in some sort of way when being in the truck during the week. But I was wondering if it was day or night driving as I would like to swing some day light in rather than night but tricking is trucking and I've driven all day light hours and they all have their ups and downs. Is the benefits pretty good you think? I've read other reviews and people do seem to like Salem as a whole and I've heard a lot of drivers been at the company for a long time. But main thing is is steady paycheck and some home time during the week.

Sorry, i get sidetracked easily... I guess its about 50/50. I prefer night hours mostof time, but have to switch from night to day once destination is reached. Going back and forth doesnt bother me much as long as i get at least 6 hours of good sleep prior to start...as far as i know benefits seem good, i dont use the medical because i have tricare....most weeks have been pretty steady, but there have been a few when there just werent any orders..all the staff are really great people and treat you very reapectfully...there is only one other job id rather have but its a local gig and hen a spot opens i will b there...but only because it will allow me the money i need and also b able to fish every day

Dont mean to wake up a dead horse but, do you still work there? I just started at the MI account and it seems like the pay isnt too bad.
