So I came back from vacation to find that the safety guy for our company stuck stickers on our trucks. No big deal except that one of them is about 1 inch by 4 inches (two words, black lettering on transparent background) and he stuck it right on the glass of our driver's side mirror (mine was at the bottom of the mirror but on another truck it was about 3 inches up from the bottom). So, two questions. Is it legal? And is it safe? I already tore mine off and told the dispatcher it "fell off". I rely on my mirrors (as do we all) and every inch of viewable area in that mirror is priceless.

I would have pulled it off too and told them if that sticker is so useful, stick it on your car mirrors. Has your safety guy ever even driven a truck? I can tell the level of hand-holding going on at certain carriers by all the asinine stickers plastered all over their trucks and trailers!

You did the right thing pulling it off. Not so much illegal what your safety guy did, just distracting and stupid! Just a lazy man's way of looking useful!

There is nothing in the regulations about obstructions on the mirrors.

That FMVSS 111 just says how they should be mounted and details about size. It was something like 323 cm squared. So not sure if a sticker could be considered decreasing it's size. The windows and windshield they go into close detail so I doubt it.

Our safety man put G-O-A-L on the mirrors; black letters on transparent background. I took mine off the first day.

Former employer put stickers on the mirror to remind of us to attend a charity event for local DOT officer. Mine was off during pre-trip. The Former employer gloated he was going to the charity event. have us local drivers attend on a saturday ( my day off, yeah right lol ) , few days later, 9 of his trucks was put OOS from that officers town. Can't fix stupid and money doesn't buy some cops :biggrin_25526::biggrin_2559:

    Peel them stickers off OP.

Sticker on a mirror for safety? That's pretty ironic actually. Thanks for making me smile.

I wonder if I could get one that says objects in mirror are more stupid than they appear but then again it might upset me when I use the mirror to brush my bald head in the morning
