I do. I've heard of her and I believe I have met her a time or two. We are starting to get a higher than normal percentage of female drivers compared to other companies, so I hope to meet more in the future!

It is! I try to update this thread since I know that new drivers usually have a honeymoon stage with a new company. I still have yet to run into anything that would make me look for another place.

    Bluedew and Rugerfan Thank this.

Well, that's very thoughtful and makes sense. I hope for your sake, it keeps going good for ya! Having a nice new truck cant be a bummer either! Have you thought about going O/O?

I have actually. I'm not ready yet, and I want to be on the road for another year before I jump into it. Gives me plenty of time to research what I'm getting into, and I'm going to start keeping mock records as though I am an O/O. See how it all works out.

I do know that if i own, i want something i love driving and that i find appealing. Like an older Peterbuilt or Kenworth. All these new KW/FL's look the same. I need more chrome and a long nose lol.

Good lord. You're kick###. You can't beat a good old KW w9. O/O is definitely different but it's fun. I helped my dad run his business until I opened my own diesel mechanic business. I'm helping him and saving up to the get him and I a W900L Icon with the C-15 and 13 speed Eaton.

A lot of times our new drivers go into the OOS lot, and just grab a trailer if none are available instead of asking the shop if its ok to take, or ask dispatch where to get an empty.

The last time at St Cloud, I see one of our drivers pulling a trailer with 4 tires on it. I don t know if it was about to be scraped, or what not

I know this is @LDYTRUCKER s thread, but just wanted to touch base since its been about 2 weeks since last post. I hope everyone had a great holiday break, and a good 2019 so far.

2019 is going good so far, I left out the day after Christmas, and took a load of frozen chicken to NY 939 miles.

    Then the following:
Kirkwood, NY-Lakewood, NY- Grand Forks, ND 1448 miles
Grand Forks, ND to Corry PA 1200 miles
    Corry, PA-Dunkirk, NY-Waupaca, WI 750 miles
Waupaca, WI-Wausaukee, WI- Grand Forks 753 miles, even though I made it to Grand Forks on Friday, it will rollover to next weeks check. A clean Level 1 in Superior, WI and a 30 min break killed that in a hurry lol

I woke up Saturday morning, and went from Grand Forks, ND to Roseau, MN and now got a 4 stop load to NY. I am taking a 34 here in Angola, IN since load has a wide open window from Tuesday to Wed.

People probably thinking, what are some of the bad of S&S, here s a few in my opinion:

    1. Sometimes the planners won t tell you your preplan before they go home. I have asked them and stress to them that people would like to know where they re going so they can plan accordingly.

    2. Running the Midwest in winter weather. If you considering to come work here, be prepared to see every inch of I 94 from Fargo to Canada. I got my first take of -50 wind chill and 0 visibility already

    3. Most work done on trucks are in Grand Forks. and at the moment there are no spare trucks just in case you need a loaner. So you may be stuck in Grand Forks a few days, or you may get lucky and get work done at dealer or out on the road.

    4. Most loads are live load with very few drop and hooks. But the good part is most of our customers do a pretty decent job getting you loaded and unloaded

But overall, this is a great company to work for. We re still in the growing stages too

I'll update as well. Hope you all had happy holidays and a good new year!

I took a Pepsi load from Stone Mountain, GA to Tolleson, AZ for home time. 2,000 miles. Got 4 days off for Christmas.

Then deadhead down to Nogales, AZ to Orangeburg, SC- 2,253 miles. Took New Years off in Augusta, GA because I refuse to drive on Christmas Eve/New Years/4th of July to avoid drunk 4 wheeler issues. Plus, most places were closed so I get layover pay.

Headed over to Grovetown, GA to Negaunee, MI- 1,403 miles.

These two runs will be on the same check since I couldnt make an AZ to SC trip in two days before the pay period ended. A 3600 mile check with extra for layover isnt making me cry.

Picked up in Oshkosh, WI to Fargo, ND- 764. Did a 34 reset before the Fargo delivery over the weekend and enjoyed a good dinner and a beer on Saturday. Got to deep clean the inside of my truck on Sunday because the snow and yuck on the ground does a number on your floor haha.

Came up to Grand Forks for a general service on my truck. On my way to the yard, my KW dash lights decided my truck is in ice skating mode. No reason for them to come on, so after service I may need to head down to Kenworth in Fargo to see what's happening. If it turns into a big deal I'll get breakdown pay, so I'm not sweating it at the moment.

Stopped in the office for a few hours to catch up with everyone. NY declined our contest on the level 2 violation I received in NY awhile ago. According to NY, drivers are responsible for removing the seals on brake chambers and checking for defective springs inside. S&S took the violation for the trailer, I had to take it, but they wont count it against me in any way since they all agree that is not in my job description, as I am not a mechanic. However, I've chalked it up to a good learning experience. Before going into NY bang on my brake chambers with a hammer and listen to the noise it makes per NY DOT instructions lol.

So far I've seemed to miss all the bone chilling weather. That's soon going to change depending on how tomorrow goes. Cant wait to feel my first negative night.

I noticed our incoming driver board is pretty full. They are still playing musical trucks at the time, but that should change by next month. They've had to rent day cabs for the regional drivers so the OTR drivers get the sleeper trucks.

So far still good. My miles seem to be steady, but I'm also a squeaky wheel. I know there's some give and take, but the company and I have a good working relationship. My checks are going up as I'm learning to manage my time better.

Today closes out one of the best weeks since I ve been here. I finally broke 4,000 miles on one check. I just missed it twice already in the last month. Here s a recap of the week:

    Waupaca, WI-Wausaukee, WI-Grand Forks, ND: 753
    Grand Forks-Roseau, MN-Akron, NY-Weedsport, NY-Phoenix, NY-Rome, NY: 1566
Rome, NY-Yorkville, NY-Jamestown, NY,-Detroit, MI- Rochester Hills, MI- St Cloud, MN: 1480
    St Cloud, MN-Fargo, ND-2 stopper -Grand Forks-251

4050 miles total for the week. I was also able to do a restart on the Polaris run Roseau MN to Rome NY.

Plus I felt like a Greyhound driver with all those additional stops. As soon as I picked up a stop, Hey, we need you to go here. I m like ok, extra 20 dollars to pick up 1 or 2 pallets. $20 x 8 stops is easy money, plus mileage.

Now, I got the table scraps for the weekend. A 685 mile run that picks up tomorrow going to IL. That was the longest load available for the weekend. Hopefully, I can get down by Rochelle, IL and get a truck wash and reset again. My truck got hammered in NY with that Lake effect snow.

On another positive note, according to our driver score card which shows us where we rank by miles, MPG, etc. I m currently ranked 3rd out of 120 plus drivers. I don t whine and complain about loads, I take them, and I ve learned the system to my advantage, and still gets the miles and the money
