I'm replacing s cams and bushings. Meritor kit number 8042.

This is my first round with replacing these but it looks pretty straightforward I see the bushings and I see the seals.

My question is that I also see o rings in this kit. Is that for the S cam housing? Is it necessary to remove the housing when you replace the S cams and bushings?

Blue ones? For in between s cam bracket and spider. No need to replace if not leaking grease. Bolts usually break off. I usually just remove the whole spider assy when replacing bushings and seals.

Yes the blue ones. I don't think they are leaking but I'll take a closer look when I get back down to the garage.

Also they gave me 2 larger snap rings and two smaller snap rings.

There is only one snap ring that goes on the end of the slack adjuster. What are the other ones for?

Usually they're a generic kit that covers several cams. The Euclid kit I used came with a couple different sized snap rings and a bunch of misc shims.

The larger snap rings hold the s-cam in to the spider, the smaller ones hold the slack adjuster on by the inner bushing. The kits usually contain hardware to do an entire axle, hence the 4 snap rings. Hope i explained it clear enough.
