So my company just got bought by Ryder. I know nothing about them. Can anyone give info on how they are to work for, how they treat their drivers, and perhaps what to expect going forward as they integrate their philosophies into our day to day operations?

Micromanaging nitwits. Expect driver facing cams, input by people that have no business managing a fleet of toy trucks let alone actual trucks, arrogant mechanics, and governed trucks and mediocre pay
Blagoje, firemedic2816, Bumper and 2 others Thank this. -
In addition they will probably take whatever your old company was doing that has probably worked profitability for a good while and totally screw it up as THEY are transportation and logistical experts! ( Dripping sarcasm)

1) you will be fired from your company, and must reapply for your job thru Ryder...and they DON'T HAVE TO HIRE YOU..!!
2) same BS, like drug screening, DMV policies.
3) safety meetings, show up, or get fired.
4) good bene's, good pay, good equipment, at least better maintained, "most times"
5) YOU WILL slip seat, and like it
6) YOU WILL give up your truck, for one just as old, but with less miles, so that all even out when they sell them
7) YOU WILL have a seniority list you must move over to, from your current job, and LIKE IT, if someone has 1 day more seniority than you, and gets your route if he/she wants it.
8) other than those..??
just another trucking job

Going from Cardinal to Ryder is like getting flushed down the toilet.

Always heard Ryder was krap to work for, had several of their drivers come over to a company I was at years ago.

if they have contracts at other companies, you switch over, unless they have no need at those other places.
typical of logistics companies like Ryder, Lily, Ruan, Hermanns,Albertaflatbed Thanks this. -
i actually worked as the yardman/boss....went to work for Ryder, and BAM, 1 month later, Lily took over......i had to reapply for my job, got accepted, but 1 driver was not, as he was a PITA, and Ryder supervisor told Lily about him.....he wasn't even ALLOWED to fill out an application..!!!!!!
at CVS, Ryder was the God for CVS...but week after week of "drivers wanted" jobs, tells you it wasn;t a good place to work at anymore..
many companies are "firing" their drivers, and dock workers in favor of a logistics company, to cut costs.......like the "transportation dept" and all those salaries, and regulations to deal with.
then the drivers apply to the logistics companies and many are hired to keep things rolling...but screw up a tiny bit, and you're GONE, they got the account covered now.gentleroger, Albertaflatbed and JohnBoy Thank this.
