Any information on leasing a truck from Ryder. Not talking about short leases but long term leasing?

I got zero knowledge about renting their trucks

I suspect they won’t lease to you unless you have a large company with X number of trucks / drivers

But I’ve owned many used trucks and the used ones I bought from Ryder were the best maintained trucks I’ve ever seen

    Mooseontheloose Thanks this.

i worked for ryder, as a shuttle driver. i was (at the time) privy to some information, but this was also over 30 years ago, so some may not apply today.

    1) must be a company, not an individual..

    2) must have your own insurance, DOT numbers (or you were able to lease those from them as well, much higher price than on your own)

    3) maintenance is on YOU unless you negotiate a contract for maintenance with them, and frankly, that might be the better way to go as this can/may include a back up truck that you WILL RENT from them, cheaper rates however....all this part is negotiable. also Ryder can keep track of ALL PM services, etc,etc.....

    4) like anything else, you lease it, you own all damages to it, again, coverage for nicks, dings, scrapes, tires and other variables can be negotiated in the over all lease costs.

    5) the lease truck is YOURS, you have to make sure that you are covered by insurance for whomever drives it.(if you add a driver, you had to notify Ryder who he/she was, this may have changed). an errant driver, crashes, that was NOT on the driver list, you'd be 1000% responsible, up to and including a new truck for Ryder.

    6) the benefit of a lease, is that truck stays with YOU, no one can "see it" in the shop (say for instance) and demand they get it....that only happens if you were to RENT a truck from them.....

have all your ducks IN A ROW, when you go in to talk lease.....

TROOPER to TRUCKER and hlcooley Thank this.

If you are not running near your Ryder that you lease from, and try to get worked on at another Ryder shop is like pulling teeth. I keep get bring it to your lease office.
My issue is the APU being wanky no AC right now. And truck will not idle over 3 minutes. This is a brand new truck. I am not able to go to Freightliner, or TK unless I'm authorized by Ryder.
Why does Ryder not want Freightliner to do Warranty work on a new truck??
