About 2 months ago i was booked a week in advance for a load to new york, i had rejected other escort loads with 2 companies in that week because i had already committed. The day before i was to dead head 280 miles to meet the truck the load shrunk and i was a 'no go' . Althought i initally did not want to charge the company the person who dispatched me insisted, and set the dollar amount i was to bill. A day later i submitted the invoice. I had to call the company because a load before the no go was still unpaid after 3 1/2 weeks. At this time i was exposed to a 20 minuet tirate from the company owner of the no go fee that i was told by his employee to bill, with a specified amount. Shortly after this encounter i was requested to run again for Rybicki and dead headed 100+ miles for a mini and overnight. That was 3 weeks ago, today i was informed that the owner of Rybicki has decided that i have been over paid and the last load payment will not be sent in order to reimburse Rybicki for overpayment. I have serviced this company for 18 months, not just as a lead escort but also locating and securing extra escort vehicles for their loads, none of which i ever charged a fee for, i also traveled many dead head miles without a dead head fee or overninght fee. The last 3 loads i ran for them entailed me calling and asking for payment repeatidly before being compensated. And the last one, totaling 290.00 i am sure will be a loss. Beware if you get a call from them, at first you may have good fortune getting paid, but do not expect it to last. The saddest part of this is that their drivers are excellent. The owner... not so excellent.

Ok. In the contract did you specify a cancellation fee? If not why do you expect a company to give away money for no work performed?
-
Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice.....
passingthru69 and Voodoo Pyg Thank this. -
If so why should a company give away money for no work performed? -
See a simple word I keep using that apparently you have no clue about? It's called a contract. It doesn't have to be a 60 page document you know. A simple sentence on the quote stating there is x.xx amount when canceled is a contract. -
Why do you feel that you should be compensated for no work performed and other people should not?
Real bussness, many who I work with as an owner operator, operate there bussiness under a thing call ethical behavior.
Operating ethically dictates that you don't hold someone from taking on work so that they can be ready and able to perform work for you and then cancel the job at the last moment without compensating them.
The attitude of "if its not in writing I don't have to be ethical" is exactly what is causing the decay of society that we see today. -
For people that can read, it's obvious I'm talking in absence of a contract there should be no pay. If you have a hard time understanding that, well...
Ok, time to take a breath and not be an a.hole to an idiot.
Anyway, to specify. In the absence of a contract stating otherwise, why would one expect to be paid for a canceled job? I'm not talking employee to employer relations. I'm specifically talking business to business, which is what the op was about.tlalokay Thanks this. -
Where did the op state that he had signed a contract that said "in the event of a cancelation you won't be compensated" ?
By the way your name calling is a very good example of the non ethical behavior that is in the trucking industry today.
Non ethical behavior like taking a 30 min. brake in the fuel lane, useing the parking lot for a rest room, scrolling facebook while driving down the interstate and many others are examples of the non ethical behavior I witness every day in trucking.
You don't need a contract to conduct yourself ethically. -
I can see the newspaper headline now, "Escort Service Gets Stiffed"
Broke Down 69, loose_leafs, passingthru69 and 3 others Thank this. -
