I got into last month, not worth it. They pay surcharge on fuel, some pay tolls. Even if its a shorter route the dealer will not pay for tolls and its the dealers that decide on paying tolls. If your going to do it call Star Fleet or Jet Transport, they pay the highest no matter what you pull. I believe over $1.40 a mile one way and if you do a certain amount of miles each mo. they tack on more money. I hear that Jet tries to get you a back haul. I was making 1.32 pulling CDL loads(fifth wheel and anything over 34'on bumper pulls)and 1.22 for bumper pulls under 34' with Wave Express.

Bennett offers the best on back hauls. Never ever heard of Jet getting any.

Many of them are paying in excess of 1.35 to 1.55 depending on the load.

Go to a cheap hauler, you get the lower rate.

I drive for Jet, The backhauls are only warranty returns, and very few, I had 1 last month.

I can say I have not found a company that pays more then Jet, or I'd be driving for that company.

Jets bonus program is great if you put in the miles.

I dont know anything about Bennett, but if they have a good backhaul program id be interested in driving for them. I typically run 6k-7k loaded miles per month.

Currently with Jet a non Canada CDL load would be paying a minimum of 1.822/mile. Jet doesnt pay tolls but 0.50/mile allows you to afford the tolls yourself.

I Just spoke to a Bennett Recruiter and she could not convince me that back hauls where available with any regularity. And their current ay rate is to low for me to even consider.

If backhauls where available more often this could be a very lucrative business.

A friend of mine seems to do well with backhauls about 60% of the time.

I'm thinking about hauling RVs as well. I'm already researching backhauls and saving up on WMO as fuel. There are people wanting their items hauled on various forums.

I have been with Bennett for almost a year, and at the beginning, i was running roughly 2000 loaded miles per week, grossing around $3000+/- and netting between $1600-$1800 per week, after fuel. I made a killing right out the gate, then august/september rolled around and it dropped to those numbers each month, not each week, and have been there since. Backhauls with any of these companies are a myth. I have had one "back haul" since i started, and it wasn't even a back haul. I took a unit to Washington and just happened to catch a load from another factory in Oregon going to western Montana. I was glad for the extra $600, but that has been it. Bennett has nothing for other customers lined up and they aren't even set up to process loads that come from anywhere other than them. I had a lead on boats coming out of the west coast ports, but they weren't interested in doing the work.

This just brings up what has all ready been posted in several forms and on-line chat areas. RV transport is a seasonal job at best. The small amount of full time drivers are making adjustments to their year round work. Hustling their butts off during March to July during the delivering season just to coast the rest of the year.

I get that there are a few people who will defend this as a full time year round job. It is understood that this is not the case. They are out there - but far and few between It’s a great job for someone who want to have a certain amount of time off during the year. Perfect for someone who wants to supplement their social security to the limit of not having to report additional income. It’s just not a career position for a young person starting out. Way too many down sides.

It's a shame you have post your negative comments on a thread that's four year old
