Running one tank on 2001 FL70

I have a 2001 FL70 Freightliner that has rusted out under the straps of the right side fuel tank and is leaking a little. I want to pull the tank to have it repaired. But I would like to run the truck while the tank is being repaired. Is it possible to pull the right side tank, cap the lines off and still be able to run the truck? Right now I have about a half of a 45 gallon tank of fuel in both tanks, I was wanting to run the fuel down to where i would not have so much fuel to drain. Is there a way to eliminate any leveling or return to this tank and still have suction to the pump? I am not a mechanic by any means but i do know quite a bit. just lack certain knowledge on certain things.

 

Ok I thought it could be as simple as that, but I did not know for sure. So that would still allow me to run the truck until the tank is repaired?
