Good evening. Is there a rule or best practice on where should a single coils should be placed on a flatbed trailer. Placing a single steel coil in the center/middle of a 48' or 53' flatbed trailer will for sure place more stress on a trailer but placing a single steel coil closer to the suspension of the flatbed trailer will make it hard to distribute the weight evenly on all axles.
What do you think about this topic?

    Thank you,

Depending on the weight of the coil I most generally place my coil in between my front tandem and center of trailer. This is on a 48 ft flat.

A tad behind center. I don't like the trailer flex but I hate a heavy spread.

a foot behind center on a spread axle, and axle weights will be fine.

I center all my coils, unless I need room for another pick.

I center most all of mine. on a spread, just a tad back from center is o.k. too. I do not like going too far to the rear, even if I am good on the axle weight. on spread axle the rear frame takes a beating & coils that are more to the back when not needed will put more strain on it.

Look under the trailer at the coil package. On my Fontaine it's just 2 or 3 extra I-beams welded between the rails 1 ft. rear of center of the trailer. Put it right there.

Another clue could be the sticker "place coil here".
