There was a scathing report about rts somewhere on here not long ago. Something about a $5,000 fee for considering to become a customer or some such nonsense.

My load board subscription shows credit reports from 2 agencies for every posted load. If it isn't stellar I likely won't call on the load. I also get a weekly email from Baxter and Bailey with new companies they are seeing with lots of collection issues. I scan quickly through for my contacts and they are never there. When dealing with a new customer, I keep the leash short until I figure they are worth extending a bit more credit to. That goes the same for a good customer who may slow up with their payments; their credit limit shrinks. I am fortunate enough to have built lanes I consistently fun and rarely need to haul for someone new anymore. I can be more choosey now.

DAT/Truckers Edge loadboard shows credit ratings and if you click on the broker you can read comments left by other carriers.
