Those roundabouts are about the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
-
I love the roundabout that they have in town. It used to be such a miserable intersection. It is important that they plan them correctly so that the trucks can use them easily.
-
They also need to mark them with signs much better than they do and maybe give another route for long combination vehicles, I encountered a new 1 with a 48 ft trailer lengthened to the end to scale a load, and there was no way to avoid curbing the tandems on the trailer or the outside wheels on my tractor. They need to be very well lit.

The latest one they put in here in Madison had to be designed with trucks in mind, as it is the only way to get to the new Super Walmart they put in near South Town mall. There is also a waste water treatment facility along with several other businesses in the immediate area that involve frequent truck traffic. It's well marked, good signage, and well lit at least.
I had some idiot in an SUV almost sideswipe my car the other day because she obviously couldn't read the signs telling you which lane was for what. -
They just put in a new 1 east of Dodgeville on US 18, I learned a bypass from a trucker 1 night around that 1, there is 1 southeast of Waupaca, that 1 I don't like.
-
I haven't been to Dodgeville in years, and never been to Waupaca. There are a few others around Madison, but most of them are not on routes where there is truck traffic. I will say that the one by the new Walmart does function relatively well. My first experience with those annoying things was down in Florida on Anna Maria Island.

Those round-abouts are put there to discourage trucks.
There's one in Fruita, CO up the street from the Pete dealer, at least it's not that tight for a 48'.
