So I’ve been truck driving for 1 year now and I’m tempted to buy a truck and work at land star. I have some money saved up to make a nice down payment on a truck so after just a few years I won’t have to worry about making monthly payments on it. My total operation costs for the first 2 years will be $1.76 per mile, after my truck payments are over then it will go down to $1.43 per mile. How is landstars rates and can I still make some good money with a operating cost of $1.43 per mile. That’s the costs for everything, including taxes ect

A dollar seventy five is pretty high, what are you buying new? And/or incorporating home life expenses?
F4T6UY Thanks this. -
6MPG at $3.00 a gallon = .50
In reality I’ll probably get 8MPG and at $2.70 or less per gallon but who knows when prices will skyrocket ect
I bassed my math on 100,000 mile work year ...... per mile costs
Fuel 0.50
Taxes 0.50
Maintenance 0.15
Insurance 0.10
Permits 0.05
Tolls 0.05
Supplies 0.05
Food 0.06
= $1.46 a mile -
Will you be pulling their trailer or yours? You'll be leased onto them running under their authority.?
Last I heard they take about 25% of your gross. You could do alot better applying for your own MC# and getting your own authority.
Is this a Lease Purchase deal through them? If so, read the fine print and tread very carefully. -
