I attended the Roadmaster Driving School in Tulsa, Oklahoma to be more specific, tho I did hear a lot about the one in OKC while I was there.
over all I am pleased with the results and the training at the school. it was a 3 week program, that took me 4 weeks and 30 days to get thru. (I failed my test few times, had to retake it.)
they assisted with financing, I did have to have down payment, but they helped to find me a loan to pay the rest. office staff was very friendly.
the instructors were good. some better than others in my opinion, but was more about personality conflicts rather than actual teaching skill or ability. a good group of people. everyone drives a bit different, and did learn a little from each of them.
the main goal of the school is to teach you enough about operating a truck to pass the CDL tests, permit, driving, and backing. if you ask, they will help with information to pass the extra endorsements (hazmat, tanker, doubles and such), but the extra endorsements are not part of the program.
they help with job placement also, and say the assistance is for life, which I think is very cool! I met several people there I still keep in touch with. out of aprox' 40 people I attended class with (my class and others), I only know of 2 who could not find job placement. one had some major speeding issues on his license within a yr of attending the school, and had not been properly informed how it might effect his hire ability until after his graduation (obtaining his cdl). the other, he had just turned 21, not much work history, and I lost contact with him, tho last I knew he had to promising prospects.
when I attended last fall, 2011, the classes were fairly full, starting each week, tho when I got my cdl, the classes had shrunk to about half the size, providing lot of extra practice time on the pad/yard/backing skills. yes there were women who enrolled, tho not all continued thru to the end.
personally I would suggest going to the campus, and look it over. (you can google them, and they on facebook)
listening to local talk, both roadmaster schools in oklahoma not that much different, both have good staff. I did not see the OKC school, tho couple others I was attending school with did. Their comments: tulsa better school than okc for basic training, equipment in better shape, but okc has an "easier" test course when you get ready to take final driving test to get the "golden ticket". (oklahoma cdl is highlighted in yellow, dont know if all states to that)
best of luck to all
just remember, you are paying them to teach you the basics to pass the cdl test, and assit you in finding a job. not how to actually drive day in and day out. (tho the folks in Tulsa very friendly, and answered any question I had. all former drivers; flatbed, tanker, van, reefer.)
