Will a hand held manual type rivet gun work on these trailer lights or do I need to purchase one that's battery operated? Had another driver tell me the hand held type wont be strong enough? Home depot sells a nice battery operated one by Milwaukee but its $330... Not really looking to spend that if I dont need to...

If you have good strength in your hands and you use aluminum rivets you should have no problem.
Harbor freight sells a nice air operated rivet gun that works extremely well even with steel rivets.
    Cost 50 or 60 dollars I believe.

If the Lights are accessible from the backside, consider using Stainless Screws n Double Nuts with some Loctite

Another question is what size Rivets do they typically use on lights? 1/4"???

They replace them with self tapping screws on our Vanguard trailers. I’d like to beat the engineer’s brains in that came up with the LED set up in their trailers.

Isn't the whole reason for rivets these days because they're more valuable? Don't want stolen lights.
